I Live In a Sexless Marriage Forum & Chat Board | Hope Springs ...

We were out at a movie last night, escaping the heat wave for a few hours.  There was a preview for a movie "Hope Springs"   I just looked it up on the Internet, and apparently it's a new movie due out in August 2012. 

Descriptions: 
"After thirty years of marriage, a middle-aged couple attends an intense, week-long counseling session to work on their relationship. "   
"Kay (Meryl Streep) and Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones) are a devoted couple, but decades of marriage have left Kay wanting to spice things up and reconnect with her husband. When she hears of a renowned couple's specialist (Steve Carell) in the small town of Great Hope Springs, she attempts to persuade her skeptical husband, a steadfast man of routine, to get on a plane for a week of marriage therapy. Just convincing the stubborn Arnold to go on the retreat is hard enough - the real challenge for both of them comes as they shed their bedroom hang-ups and try to re-ignite the spark that caused them to fall for each other in the first place."

The preview was pretty difficult for me to watch.  However, it's billed as a comedy (aaaaghhhh!)  and appears to have a happy ending.  It should be that simple....  Anyhow, you might want to be on the lookout for this movie in your neighbourhood, and possibly use it as a springboard into "The Talk". 

 

And keep an eye out for the sequel... Hope Springs 2: After the Reset Sex Vanishes.

 

Forget hope springs & get the Rome series on DVD. Gorgeous men, full nudity, passionate sex scenes, & a great story line.

 

I saw that preview with my H!!!  Pretty uncomfortable  :)
He does not want to see it, he said he would rather go to our current counsellor :) 
It's being sold as a comedy but it is not a funny place to be for those who went through it.

 

Chai I am with you in the storyline, I guess film is tippy toeing round older couples.  Older folks want to have sex, but younger viewers don;t want to think grandma and step grandpa are doing it.  Enter Streep and Jones. 

 

Looks like a golden opportunity for us ILIASM to write a script ;)

SexlessinTX - your H would  probably rather have a tax audit than sit through this movie. 
Windy - Hmmmm... Starts out same, different ending?  Younger couple?  I think there have been movies about divorce and starting over.  Don't know if the sexless aspect has been done.
