    Half A Block

I live less than half a block from the train tracks.  And there are trains going on them 24/7!  I wake up all the time at odd hours of the night, and hear trains.I don't mind, really; I only hear them if I'm already awake.

When I was little I lived with my grandparents. Their house was near the train tracks. I remember laying in bed hearing the train go by. Now, at the house I am at, I am near the tracks again. I like hearing the trains go by.

    Railway And Road

I don't live right next to the railway tracks, between them and me there's a road and a canal, so in the daytime the sound of the trains passing by is drowned out by the constant 'swooshing' of cars and the rumble of lorries on the road. As darkness approaches, the evening...

    I Do, Now.

Being from smalltown Kentucky the only trains I'd ever been accustomed to seeing were the typical "choo-choo" trains. Very seldom did one ever come through my town, and to see or hear one was a rare treat indeed. Living elsewhere now, there are train tracks directly to...

I think I will always want to live near train tracks. Growing up, there were train tracks down the street from me. We lived on a parkway, and the tracks would run over the vidock. After I was married, my husband & I lived in an apartment (a four-plex) that had a long backyard...

    My Favorite Place

The train tracks in my neighborhood have always been a quiet place for me. I usually love to go on walks to free my mind, but I still have to interact with other human beings. So I usually take the long walks on the tracks in my neighborhood. I occasionally sit on top of one of...

I Live Right Next to Them

I live next to train tracks. VERY close to them.  I'm not good with measurement, so I'm not sure exactly how far away I am, but it is very close--  So close that sometimes it will rattle the house when a train goes by fast.  It was hard to get used to at first when...

    Close Call

My house, at it's closest point,  is about  five yards off of  the train tracks.  The first night I lived here three trains went by.  When I felt the walls shake and that gawd awful shrieking noise of metal on metal, I thought there was no way in hell I...

    I Do

I live very close to the city centre train station, but the sound of the train, is something that I have grown accustomed to. At Christmas there was a special steam train put on with santa claus that would depart five times a day and run to a nearby outdoor museum, and...

    Oh No!! I Do!!

And it is the main line connecting two very important and busy cities. About 30 trains move on this track daily. Forget the noise. The railway crossing is more frustrating. I have waited 30mins to give way to 6 trains ( 2 goods trains) moving back to back.

I live across the street from train-tracks. These are just cargo trains, that run through the night. The roar of them can be heard all day and all night. At night, my neighborhood is quiet, not a sound, except for the passing trains. It may be weird, but the sound is soothing to...
