The Precious Man I Loved As a Brother

We grew up together, lived in the same apartment building, my family's apartment above his family's. We laughed. We annoyed each other. Sometimes a lot! But always we were there for each other. As I graduated from high school, we moved away, but of course this chosen brother of...

    Lost My Sister

My sister (and only sibling) died at 28 in 1993.  She wasn't a drug user and didn't sleep around.  She was only 18 when she had sex with a guy who was HIV+.  End of story.

    For My Broken Heart

He didn't drink alcohol, ate very healthy food (even more healthy than I do in fact), exercised and took his HIV medication religiously. When I first saw him his very appearance was at odds with the fragile skin and bones images that most people portray those who are HIV...

    Lost My Father

I lost my Father to aids back in the early 90's.  It was a slow and painful process and one of the hardest things I've ever been through.  I'm just grateful for the time we had together and that I had the chance to say good-bye.

    A Childhood Friend

My good friend who lived down the street died today from aids. We grew up together, and she had the disease since she was born, but she didn't know until later on. I'm still dealing with it, so if anyone knows any good music to listen to as a coping mechanism, it would be greatly...

    Misplaced My Brother

He promised he would return ~ then proved it. He rides on the back of a golden dragonfly. He directed other humans to cross my path so I would not miss him. He said one day we would  soar together. I'll go to the garden and wait by the pond...
