    the hats, the gloves, the smart dresses, the nylons, the heels, the tailored suits, the trousers Katheraine Hepburn wore... I love 1940's fashion. The only part I don't like is all the fur they wore.

    The 50's are lovely but the 40's are just

    that little bit less ostentatious and generally softer and more comfortable. With very few exceptions (some factory workers and some forces women) women wore skirts and dresses exclusively and really cherished their femininity in often difficult circumstances.
