    The quietness of it !

I went mushroom picking ,,, way out into the mountains . I honestly could have just sat and enjoyed the peace all day . It was so calming even though I was trudging thru the mountainside looking down ,,,,, I did manage to find mushrooms and inner self zen

Right now. This is where I need to be.

Alone, comforted by Mother Nature, soothing me, as I sob at my wretched self and she does not turn away. No demands are made of me here. Just to see and feel and inhale and exhale. And be. Let me finally sleep soundly. Take away my busy thoughts from a world far away...

Sometimes, while driving along the thruway,

I see vast expanses of (seemingly untouched) forest. I often feel this "pull" toward it. How wonderful it would be to have a beautiful tiny home all to myself. I'd love to be able to look up at the stars and experience quiet enjoyment of solitude.

I would give anything to be able to escape to

go camping for a week. No technology. No city. No people. Just me and the earth around. But not a campsite. Too busy and modernized. I want pure nature. Near a river. Lots of pines, with plenty of others rustling in the breeze. The clatter of pine cones falling in the distance...

    I Live In The Woods

Our house is in the woods our drive is like a 1/2 mile long. You can't see our house from the road. We live on a river and from our shore you can't see any other houses. I love where we live.

The wind in the trees with branches whipping

and rain pouring during a wild summer storm. The early spring glimpses of trillium or jack-in-the-pulpit. The silent stillness of a winter wood with snow dripping from branches. The explosion of orange and red and the crackle of leaves under foot in the autumn.

    Where Love Goes To Grow

We all have an environment in which we feel most comfortable. Some people love the beach, others the mountains, and still others like open fields and rolling hills.   I have always adored the woods. I like the trees, the woodland creatures that reside there, the rivers that...

I typically isolate myself from my family

and society, but when I do, I love going for a walk in the woods. My siblings and friends (which I do not have many) are not nature people, so I have to resort to walking by myself. Today I went for a walk in the woods. The woods are my favorite piece of nature; I find them...

I grew up amongst a giant forest,

every inch holding a new, mysterious gift. As a child, it was my safe haven, my playground, full of magic. The old logging trails were as familiar as my heartbeat. Nowadays, the fear taught to me by city living follows me everywhere. Instead of seeing the beauty in every broken...

I literally have the entire woods in my backyard

and beyond mapped out. It's kind of sad honestly. I've snuck out so many times just to be in the woods. Even slept in a shelter I made from sticks/fallen trees. It's gotten to the point where I'm naming trees and rocks. What am I doing with my life?

Don't worry, it's not slenderman....this time. I love the peace and beauty of the forest, feel right at home. It's almost as though the forest is a sanctuary guarding mefrom the outside world. Except for those creepy-*** forests which are more like a sanctuary for creepy kids...

Always enchanted by it. Have seen pockets of rainforest here, beautiful as well. But a walk down any path in PA forests is always top of my list when I make the trip back to visit family.

There are quite a lot of things I love about

being in the woods. It can feel magical and eerie, depending on the season and weather. Sometimes it can also be the mood of the person that can change the feeling that the woods give off. Another thing, I feel closer to nature whenever I am in the woods. In a way, I feel as if...

Trees take so long to grow

that they live in a time outside ours. A single tree lives across generations of us, so a wood brings us the wonderful and spiritual in a way not many places can. There is a sense of otherness within its boundaries. There is peace, regeneration and wildness for us there.

Shadows of the trees, singing birds, the smell of wet wood and fresh herby air make me feel alive again. Sometimes when I go for a walk alone I take a deep breath, spread my arms and catch sun rays penetrating leaves above. That's freedom. It completely wrecks me that I don't...
