    Commute By Bike

When I ride to work, it's 15 miles one way. I don't mind the dark as I'm lite up well. Several coworkers still mock me but I think they are just jealous. They know I could put them to shame in a bike road race. This year I'm targeting for 120 mile ride to celebrate turning 50. I...

Perhaps I'm In Better Shape Than I Thought !?

Last week I lead a fellow-retiree on a bike ride around parts of my city which I enjoy, particularly along the river bikeway (multi-use path).  I had some concerns, because he has a new bike with all gears working.  Mine is an old beater and a couple weeks ago the handle-bar...

    Bike 'Em, Danno

There’s nothing inherently wrong with using a bicycle as a means of transportation. It’s good exercise, it reduces your carbon footprint, and it can be a lot of fun.  Some of my best friends are bicyclists, to paraphrase the old saying.  It’s an almost universal...

To Bike Is To Smile......inside And Out

I love to ride a bicycle. I love to pedal a bicycle. I love to spend time in the saddle. The time spent pedaling is quality time. The longer I pedal the more I become one with my machine, I feel in tune with the bike, I blend with it. It does sound strange, but when you...

Concise Bicyling Reply , A Lost Turn Of Attention.

I was riding downtown once in the early morning and ran into a cable blocking off the entrance to a parking lot, it was invisible in the morning light. I still love to bicycle. I was hit by a cager in a big truck and knocked into the center of the intersection. I was lying...

    Dangers Of Bike Commuting....

Besides the obvious danger of car traffic... What about the danger of answering nature calls? Had a horrible experience this morning on the way in... I ride about 15 miles to work, about half way in, my stomache started to cramping (diarreha cramps) and at 6:30am nothing is open...

    For a Lot of Reasons

I like the freedom, knowing I just covered 30 miles from my muscles alone.  I like the fact that I am getting in really good shape, the best shape I have been in since high school.  I like that I don't have to worry so much about my calorie intake, "eat to ride...
