    Empty Feeders

This morning the sun was shining and I could hear the birds chirping, over my husband volcano like snores echoing from the bedroom.  I turned to look out the kitchen window and watched the birds fighting over the last little bit of seed in the feeders.  The pecking...

My Carolina Wren Family Thiis Year

Been a bird watcher for many years.  At the moment I have a question.  My resident Carolina Wrens have built their nests in many areas of my home.  This year it is in a big flower pot on the front open patio on a small table.  They are just a day or two from fledging and the...

    The Hummingbird

Hummingbird migration?  I thought hummingbirds migrated south during the winter.  I have never seen a hummingbird in Oregon in the month of December. But, yesterday while standing in front of the kitchen sink and looking out the window at the birds....A hummingbird...

The City Or Rural Of Aberdeen, Wa Irrony

I usually like to Bird Watch. My Vision seems to discourage me, because it's so hard to see things as quick flashes and grasp what I see immediately. Even with Binoculars, it takes me time to get the Binoculars pointed at a Bird, by as long as it will stick around longer...

    Luv Them Birdies!

I don't have an actual birdfeeder or anything like that, I just have and old round yard table that I spread the bird seeds out on.  I never really believed that the little ones would come, but to my delight........they are here.  I've been doing this for a little over...

    Peaceful But Exhilerating

It is so enjoyable to nurture the native birds in my neighborhood with trees, shrubs, feeders, houses, and baths to keep them safe and healthy. My yard borders a wildlife preserve and I have everything from finches and cardinals to pheasants and turkeys in my yard. This...

    Watching Sea Birds

Today I saw my very first Puffins whilst exploring the cliffs and rocky coves of North Wales. I thought they would be easy to spot but they are so well camouflaged despite their colourful beaks. The best way to spot them was to look out for their orange feet. They...

    Coffee, Seeds and Me

Love to start the day on the deck with a steaming cup of black coffee, a handful of peanuts and sunflower seeds and me waiting for the morning visitors. There is a tribe of woodpeckers, a band of bluejays and the hummingbirds are the first to decend.  Then along come...

    Who Really Was Watching Whom??

I just finished filling the bird feeders in the backyard.  I filled 2 feeders with regular bird seed, 1 feeder with thistle, 1 hummingbird feeder with the sweeten liquid and scattered some seed on the lawn in a corner of the yard.  As I finished and stopped to survey...
