Interesting to watch the speed of birds,

avoiding obstacles at such high speeds. I was watching three swallows from my cabin deck, it seemed that two males might have been interested in the same female and there was a lot of diving and going round in circles, sometimes coming so close to me that I could hear their...

I do. I live near the beach.

There are so many oystercatchers. I love their song. And I love to see them fly. In my language we call them sea magpies. Piod y mor.

We have many planters on our deck with flowers

that attract hummers. Yesterday I was sitting near one of them and a ****** came into "my bubble" if you will and just lingered there....just an arms length from my nose. I was so thrilled. I could not call anyone else out to see so I just enjoyed the little thing. After a...

    Crazy Indian Mynah

I've had a pet Indian Mynah for 4 years, we found him on pavement outside a shop when he was about 12 days old. Of course my kids wanted to keep him and so we took him home in an empty ice cream container. We had to feed him by hand for 3 months and then he started to eat my...

    Bird Of Paradise

Do animals have a sixth sense? A story taken from the Herald Sun newspaper. Susan thinks they might. Her father-in-law was from Malta and loved birds. His life-long wish was to see a king parrot in the wild, but he never did. Family and friends gathered at Joe's home for the...

I have never owned a bird (I have 3 cats) but I love the creatures.  There is a local park I go to regularly and I feed the ducks, geese, pigeons and gulls there.  It is one of my ways to relax and sort out what's going on in my life while communing with nature.

"Well, hi, there." I address the visitor

who landed on my patio door. "You, are a wood ******, aren't you?" As if in confirmation he makes a pecking motion. "My are you beautiful!" And off he flies. "Bye, thanks for visiting!"

This poor bird got robbed off of his precious catch. If I had a powerful lens I would have got more clear shots. But it was still fun to take these pictures and share them with my friends.

    I'm overdramatic as hell,

but I don't think I'm exactly exaggerating when I say birds are an important aspect of my life. I've been through some pretty stupid phases where I just pissed all over, for a lack of a better word. Birdwatching and caring for birds were therapeutic. They helped me feel better...

My little parrots. Their little warm breath

is the purity of life. They have never broken a piece of my heart, but have added layers of laughter to my life. I can be in the saddest of places and yet be inspired to let out a cry of joy at their perpetual antics. I love providing them a spoiled life as lives should be made...

Birds are truly beautiful mythical creatures ,
