    Misunderstood

I have grown up with birds and I really love them. I especially love parrots. I have three of them now and I love them all so much. I really love to hold them and play with them. I hate how people misunderstand parrots and think they're all loud, messy, bite all the time, and...

    I'm overdramatic as hell,

but I don't think I'm exactly exaggerating when I say birds are an important aspect of my life. I've been through some pretty stupid phases where I just pissed all over, for a lack of a better word. Birdwatching and caring for birds were therapeutic. They helped me feel better...

    I love watching birds.

I live by the sea. I don't like the sea gulls very much! But we see lots of oystercatchers, especially in winter. I love their song and to watch them flying. In my language we call them magpies of the sea. Today I watched a heron fishing in the estuary. I also see egrets and...

Interesting to watch the speed of birds,

avoiding obstacles at such high speeds. I was watching three swallows from my cabin deck, it seemed that two males might have been interested in the same female and there was a lot of diving and going round in circles, sometimes coming so close to me that I could hear their...

My buddy got a bird as a get well gift

for shattering his entire leg and half his hip, everyone knew he was going to limp for the rest of his life. We taught it to say cripple like in family guy. It took a few months of ******* him off and even kicking us out a few times but it stuck. Unbeknownst to us, he plotted...

Winged Elegance And The Lowly Observer

What I investigate out of my window on this brisk, bright winter Sunday morning is no less than simple elegance in pure jamboree. I ponder, I spy, and I worship here. Small birds are sitting in the naked trees. They patiently await their turn at this morning’s window offerings...

Early this morning, and all day long,

even at dusky dark, this male Cardinal has beat the tar out of himself trying to get inside the workshop. Over and over he tries to fly-in..up and down the window. So, what-the-hey... no heat, nothing to hurt, but he is going to hurt himself if he doesn't stop. I opened the...

Sheltered from the strong sea breeze I sit

comfortably in a cushioned patio seat listening to the songs of the various bird varieties, as they perch in the tree, or drink the sugar water from their ceramic bird feeder. The feeder hangs close to a tree's branch, still to get its spring coat of feathered green. Seldom...

    Bird Of Paradise

Do animals have a sixth sense? A story taken from the Herald Sun newspaper. Susan thinks they might. Her father-in-law was from Malta and loved birds. His life-long wish was to see a king parrot in the wild, but he never did. Family and friends gathered at Joe's home for the...
