I Love Black and White Movies

Here's Looking At You Kid... 432 People

    I've always had a love

for old, classical, black and white movies. I just watched the 1955 rendition of The Big Combo and it was so good, I definitely would recommend it if you enjoy noir detective films :)

To me the current day movies lack profound

acting skills. Computers have filled the entertainment needs of most. I find this to be non-entertainment and not warranting the cinemas original intent of "acting" as a form of entertainment

Fred Astaire! I love every single one of his

movies! There is just something magical about that dancing. He makes it look effortless and takes such joy in it. And, don't get me started on the costumes and big routines! I spent a very happy Thanksgiving watching a Fred Astaire marathon and cooking that meal. Woe to...

    Memories

Being raised by my grandmother caused me to end up watching black and whites all the time. I always loved them. Actually, they don't have to be black and white. I love old films in general.   I love Cary Grant, Bob Hope, John Ford, Clark Gable and Audrey Hepburn! Some of my...

Rashōmon (1950) Is Indeed A Masterpiece!

I just watched Rashōmon (1950) by Akira Kurosawa. It's indeed a masterpiece among the others. Not only was story itself fascinating, but also the way the director told the story (the way he arranged the frames and cinematography, etc). I do recommend this to those who haven't...

    The chiaroscuro lighting,

film noir, borrowing from German expressionism. The black and white has been said to be like an X-ray, and of being more stylized. Color may sometimes give off an unrealistic fairy-tale look and feel. Whereas B/W can feel more gritty and real. A few of my favorites are thus, let...

Watching Black And White Movies Is A Kind Of Lonely Experience

I love watching black and white movies. I think I just watched about 60 movies spanning from the 20s to 50s. However, almost none of my friends watch them. To be exact, I have only one friend who's interested in b/w movies, and he is even 20 yrs older than me. It's kind of lonely...

I have always enjoyed watching black

and white movies since I was very young. I especially love the movies from the 30s and 40s. They seem to touch the soul in a way most movies fail to do today. I love TCM and also collecting films. I have built up a collection of 6000 movies in my life and am very proud of my...

Like many black and white films, this just has an air of magic about it. Atmospheric, original and melancholy.

    Dramatically Dramatic!

I think that some of the BEST movies are made in black and white. The non-color of the movie gives it a characteristic that movies that HAVE color don't contain. It gives you a chance tonite your imagination on what color the bed spread is or the color of the curtains. Haha...

I've actually seen the first "Poor little Rich

girl." It was funny, I mean there was no sound cause it was made in 1912 but it was still good, even though the woman who layer it was about in her 20s at the time but still believable. :D
