I've always wanted to name a cat "Bazooka" but haven't found the right one yet.  It seems that their names just sort of come to you.  I had two littermate male kittens that we adopted when they were 3 weeks old and tiny, so we named them "Quark" and "Neutrino" after the sub-atomic particles.  One website I visited had the name "Divot" which cracked me up.  Does anyone else out there have a great cat name/story?

Have you seen the musical,  Cats? There is a character who is a big fat tuxedo cat. His name is Busterfer Jones. I have a cat who looks just like him, and his name is Al E. Kat.

We had a cat named Harley once, because when he was a kitten, he purred really loudly, like a Harley Davidson.

And now we have a girl cat named Mimi. We rescued her and whenever she meowed it would sound like she was saying "Me? Me? Me?" So, Mimi it was!

I initially named my cat Loki after the Norse god of mischief, but almost from the first it was clear it didn't suit him.  I started calling him bun, then bunny, then realized he needed proper title so now his official name is Mr Bundles Esq, and Bunny or Mr B to his friends. :)

They all have short names and other nick-names eg. Moth, Mothra, The Greyling, Hissbag International.

While growing up, my brothers and I named our cat "The Cat".  Actually, her name was Liberty because we got her on the 4th of July, but it quickly became apparent she that she had a temper.  She would attack anyone and everything.  You know she liked you because she did not draw blood.  Several times, our friends would go home with bandages on various scratches after encounters with The Cat.  She was fiesty.

My first cat died a little over a month ago aged 9 month(4-3-09), and to me he was the best.

Ive always wanted a "normal" name for a pet, i even had a hamster called jack, but when i first seen my cat, it was decided he would be known as "colin" he had the look of a colin all day long, if there is indeed such a thing, and i miss him so much.

Sorry to put a bit of a downer on the subject people.

The first cat I ever had was named Jasmine, but also called "Jam" "Jammer" "Jammie", etc. She was pure, shiny black from the tips of her ears to the tip of her tail. She was beautiful, and was the love of my life. She was with us for 18 wonderful years. When she was 12, we bought a house and added another pure black female kitty that we named Samantha. She was also known as "Sam", "Sammer", "Sammie", etc. One year later we added ANOTHER all black female and named her Snuggles....but also call her "Snugs", "Snuggie', "Nuggie bug", etc.  We lost both Jasmine and Samantha last year, and then had the opportunity to foster a mother kitty and 6 beautiful little babies!  Of course had to keep at least one.....or two! We kept a black and white male that was the runt of the litter and named him "Rocky" for the fight he'd fought just to survive! And my husband fell in love with a black and white female that he affectionately named "Jake"! Sometimes we change it to "Jakey" just to remind us that she really IS a girll! And, last but not least, we had the opportunity, through a local vet clinic, to adopt a pure WHITE male kitty that needed a home. We named him "Little Bear" because of his close resemblence to a polar bear! I have to say that he's not quite yet a year old and he's almost 20 pounds!!!  Now that is NOT really a kitty for the name "Little Bear" is it???  I've also wanted to have a kitty and name it "Kizziemoto", so who knows? Maybe it will happen with all the connections I seem to have to people that have kitties that need homes!!

Well the best name for a cat of mine was  Kentucky Dark Star.    I named her that because I found her abandoned in a campground in Kentucky and I was into the Grateful Dead (song named Dark Star).     However I called her "Kenny" for short and everyone thought she was a HE.

The best name I have heard of is Charlene Butterbean!   She is part of a household that fosters kittens - you can look up the blog - they are called the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee.    Beautiful kitten pics.

Lets see, I have Mama Kitty an orange tabby because she had all my other seven cats but I call her Mama.

(Her kittens from oldest to youngest)First Litter: Baby Jaguar an orange tabby because my little sister loves Diego also called BJ, Baby J, Jaguar, Baby. Twitchy a blonde tabby because he is always twitching also called Twitchers, Twitch. Fritz an orange tabby because my grandma had a cat just like him named Fritz, no other names. Sandy a blonde tabby because of his fur, no other names. (See the color pattern?)

Start of the second litter: Jojo a blonde tabby because her meow is a little off so when she meows it sounds like mo-mo so we made it Jojo also called Jojo Dancer. Fluffy an orange tabby because of her wild fur also called Fluffers, Fluffball, Fluffs. Last but not least Scrappy a blonde tabby because of his forever fighting also called Pappy, Scrappsters, Scrappy Doo. (Another color pattern?)
