I Love Cycling

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 647 People

I have a trail bike. I go out on it most days.

Today I went for a long ride after school. We have cycle paths where I live along the coast. There was a fierce wind blowing against me but I went on because I knew the coming back would be easy! And it was! I went as far as Carreg Fach. There is a bench there where I had my...

    For those who didn't know,

I've been cycling for a year now, I first struggle with 7miles now I find my self doing 70miles, time trials, hill climbs and all sorts! I love it! Now I'm wanting to join my local national racing team. I'd like to thank my dad for introducing me to such a great sport.

    My Antidepressant

Cycling has always been an escape for me.  From the time I was little, and my grandfather would bring me new bikes that he'd rescued from junk piles and fixed up every time I outgrew my current bike, until I started racing in high school, though my college and service years...

Well, Honestly, Some Days I Don't

Actually, I did good on my bike run today. I'd say I performed at 80%. I had had a few days of going out on my run feeling unusually drained. Possibly coming down with something. Recovering, regaining energy. I'm particular what time I head out for my run (at the crack of dawn...

and it was amazing! I could only do 33 minutes. I loved the music, the intensity and the instructor barking out orders. My butt's sore. I'll go again, working my way up to 60 minutes and a tougher class. I see why some people become addicted to it because all your senses are...

Ever year I set some kind of cycling goal. Why?  Because without a goal it's to easy to say it's to cold, hot, wet, windy, or something.  I have a standard 5000 mile goal each year.  One year it was a 200 mile day, another was RAGBRAI, another was RAIN.  I have a few still...
