    Little Market World

i think markets give you so much inspiration. all the colorful fruits, vegetables. quilts, cloth, patterns. I think it's also the whole liveliness of it. everything is fresh but everything is old.

    Joining In

When I moved back to Ohio the one thing I wanted was a farm.  Not a large farm, just something I could handle as I learned.  Well this was my first year, made a lot of mistakes, but did some things correct. I live about 3 miles from a rural farm market. ...

i just found a closer one to my house

and while it is expensive i would not give up buying farm to market. it truly is a different way of eating and much better experience. I am lucky that the one i go to is year round so i can buy weekly and know where my food is coming from.

    Love Locally Grown Produce

There is something so satisfying about purchasing locally grown produce, or local baked goods and other products.  One of my favorite parts of going to our market is being able to chat with the farmers and learn about the people I am helping to support while buying a product I...

    Special Time

I love going to our local farmers market.  I go on Saturdays with my mom, and besides getting good food, it's a special time for me and my mom.  The food is great, so fresh, I buy fruit, pies, fresh baked bread, and all of it supports local farms in the area.  I...

    Ban All Supermarkets

Farmers markets are only getting off the ground in Northern Ireland, which is ridiculous since we grow so much local food. But we have allowed the super market chains to dominate distribution for so long it is hard to compete on price. Also people see any fruit or veg that does...

    Indescribable Joy

is what I feel when I walk into a farmer's market. I visited one yesterday with my daughter and it was the best day I've had in ages. The fall apples were on sale and we bought a selection of different varieties. I just love the profusion of color and the varieties of...

There is nothing better than fresh, home-grown veggies and fruits. The taste of a freshly-plucked garden tomato is divine!

Working at a farmers market was probably my

favorite job. At the farm where I was employed, the other interns and I would always beg to be able to go that week to the market. The people were always so polite and nice, and genuinely interested in their health and how their food was tended to. I remember on lunch breaks...

Nothing better than fresh local grown fruits and veggies. And you can't beat the price. And it helps the local economy. Everybody wins. Literally everyone. Except walmart, they can suck it. O_O

I 100% believe that more people should get into supporting locally grown produce. Growing up we only really got fruits from the local farmers, but now as I've gotten older I think its fantastic to go and browse the produce thats in season. You don't have to fret and worry about...

    The Future

My friend told me once that she thought farms and gardening were the future. I'm inclined to agree. I'd go to farmers' markets a lot more often than I do if I lived closer to them but it's enough just to know they exist. We've got a lot of good ones in Baltimore. I'm into them...

    Buy Local, Think Globally.

When you go to a farmer's market or private orchard, you see the appreciation in the eyes of the seller when you walk away with a big bag of apples or a basket full of assorted veggies. You see where your produce is coming from. You can banter with them about the weather, and...
