    Gardening 'in The Zone'

There is often a zen space I can get into when I work in my garden. My favorite activity there is trimming, only just the other day I was clipping back all the winter dead stems, and I accidentally cut a clematis stem at the base! I consoled myself that there were still two more...

    Growing a Green Thumb

I have a confession – despite being a plant murderer, and having a general distaste for all things dirty, as well as shirking any activity which whispers anything of the domestic – I am falling in love with gardening. I have tried to resist it. I remind...

    Flowers And Planting

I love to plant flowers. There is nothing like feeling the dirt and the smell of it is heaven. Roses are my favorite flower to plant and watch grow. I also like to most any kind of iris, canna and lily.

Gardening Is Essential To Human Life.

It used to be thought that our love of plants was an impractical  but pure passion.  But now, in the age of environmental crisis,  we're discovering that gardening is essential to human life.:)

    Lovely Sprigs Of Life

Plants are beautiful reminders of how life continues no matter the struggles. Have you noticed that weeds and grass grow up through concrete. When there's barely enough light to keep a sustain life you can find it struggling to survive. It's amazing when given all the best...

The Bunnies Are Eating My Flowers!!

I'm sitting in my living going back and forth between EP and work (as usual).  I have a clear view of my backyard where my daffodils and crocus are blooming. I watch some bunnies frolic in the grass and chew on some clover.  Such a peaceful sight. But what is this I...

    Start putting in your plants,

work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go. Cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

It began with planting a few flowers to make

the wife happy in her new nest. And they grew well and looked nice, but somehow, to me, anyway, they just weren't enough. So, we planted some more. Then, she wanted a garden. OK. I tilled some soil, framed out a quite large one and a smaller one with landscaping timbers 3...

I love to be outside playing in my garden,

I've run across a huge problem. The neighborhood cats love to do their nasty business in my beautiful soil and mulch. I could never bring myself to kill an animal and will not resort to that. I do need help to eliminate this problem. The neighbors don't give a crap but the cats...

    Life Force

Well all my life I've been attracted to being around, tending to plants of all kinds. My very favorite flowering plant is the Hibiscus. My bf gave me a Hibiscus blossom on our first date and I knew I would fall for him. Plants make the world go round. They are so wonderful!

I love gardening and looking at gardens.

There is something I find very satisfying and life-affirming in working with nature, tilling the soil and turning a rather barren patch of mud and turf into something glorious, orderly and overflowing with life. My front garden is lawn, with a patch in the middle where I...
