    A Twisted Romance

I've never been much of a fan of traditional romance movies or the Hollywood variety. I find them quite boring. There's been a few exceptions, such as Sweet Home Alabama, but for the most part they are predictable and a bit redundant. The traditional 'chick flick' I usually...

And By "Foreign" we mean what exactly ??????

For Germans, Swedes, Greek and Spaniards, American films are foreign films. Some American movies are pretty good, I particularly enjoy the independent films. The ones that didnt cost billions to make and yet are incredibly well made and frequently have an excellent cast. I have...

    A Good Deal...

I love losing myself in the lilt and changing tone of another language.  I am a very quick reader, and do need the subtitles, but thankfully can still keep up with the actions of the movie. Yet often find that the foreign films I watch and prefer are less action based...

    I Just Love Them

I remember one day i was in the video store with my best friend. She loves all the cliche, lame, romantic comedies that i just can't stand. I was looking in the Foreign/Arthouse section. It's my favourite. Every film there is so much more captivating than any lame romantic...

    Cool Hand Luke

Well, it isn't a foreign movie, but I saw it yesterday and loved it. What I didn't like is that the director took the easy route to gaining the sympathy of the audience for Paul Newman's character by focusing only on his positive side and leaving his past misbehaviors untouched...

    35 Shots Of Rum

I saw this beautifully understated French film on my birthday -1st Oct:), the last film to be shown, at least for now, at my local film theatre, which offered non-mainstream film, but non-mainstream does not make money, so of course it had to go. Anyway, back to the film. It's...

And I'm Sick of the American Remakes!

    Color of the Pomegranates

    Oh Foreign.

There are many reasons why I love (non American-English speaking) foreign films. Getting a different perspective, in general, is a beautiful thing. If I were to give a script of a popular movie from America to someone in, say, Serbia, it would come out different. And then if we...
