    My Ink-spotted Fingers

Today I'm ink-spotted after refilling my most-used fountain pen--a slim, silver Cross that I've had for years. Refilling a pen is a very soothing, ritualistic chore. This time, I filled it with tobacco-brown ink, which looks wonderful on off-white paper.  My very first...

I adore pens! Such beautiful objects!! Guess you could say I am a collector of pens in one way or another. I keep special pens in my Oak and Walnut antique chest boxes. Some pens have been gifts - I have "bridesmaid" gift pens, gifts of pens from boyfriends and lovers, pens I...

    I Collect Fountain Pens

I have liked stationary since I was a child, I would browse stationary stores for hours, mainly I bought pencils, rubbers and paper. I still have a few pens from when I was young but most of my fountain pens I have collected over the last 20 years. I started with Parkers then...

    The Red Fountain Pen

held loosely while it glided across the hand made paper, I watched the black ink slither from the point and glisten in the moonlight as I signed my name to the good bye note.

    Noodlers Ink

Along with fountain pens comes ink. I happen to like all the shades Noodlers has to offer. So I ask, Do you use Noodlers and what is your favorite color?

    Pilot Varsity

FOuntain pens intrigue me.  I like the fact that the ink flows freely, without you having to press down on the paper.  I like the character that the nib gives your writing.  Howevere, I have no idea what I am doing when it comes ot picking fountain pens...

I truly believe that fountain pens bring out

aspects of a person's personality more than any other writing tool. The pen, nib, and ink are all revealing.

    They Fit Me.

I like their somewhat archaic nature.  The feedback of a medium or wide nib on heavy paper.  The sense of classiness.  The defiance to disposable consumer crap.  They are made by craft; Collectible; Beautiful.  I've been on the bleeding edge of...

    Fountian Pens

I like to journal with a real pen. I started with a nice ball point. Moved up to a really nice ball point, then it was roller balls. Finally I decided to try a fountain pen. I started with a modestly priced one from levenger. It was ok, but not a great quality. I moved up to a...

For anyone wanting to start with fountain pens

I recommend the Pilot Metropolitan. It's usually under $15 and for such a cheap pen it writes unbelievably smooth. The only reason I don't carry it around daily is because I require the larger ink capacity of the TWSBI Vac 700.

    Beautiful Pens In Catalogs

Just love beautiful writing instruments. Have such a weakness in this area, that I try to ignore the catalogs I get from folks like Levenger.com (where I have purchased a number of things besides pens). However, a week or so ago I got their new catalog on the SAME day that I...

    Frustrations With 'Modern' Pens

I absolutely ADORE fountain pens, they're the only things that can make my chicken scratches look legible, and the ink flow, feel, look, and classic-ness of them is just so addicting! It's so frustrating for me that good ones are so expensive, particularly Cross pens (my favorite...

I love the ink. Its so much better than having to press really hard onto a piece of paper, and making the writing look scruffy and not nice to read. My parents have often asked me: "Do you want your eyes tested? You keep putting your head near to the paper when you...

I Collect A Few But Love My Snorkel

I have some very nice pens that I bought over the years. I have a liking for Waterman, Sheafer, and Esterbrook. I'm also good at rebuilding pens and have rebuild a few of my all time favorites the Sheafer Snorkel pen from the 50's. They are by far the most intricate and...

    Curiosity And Functionality

My introduction to fountain pens started I would say the summer after 8th grade. I got a carved horn dip pen and some ink for it at a gift shop near a local historic site. And well, mainly out of boredom I started to play with it. The ink was the kind that comes in a powder and...

    I got into fountain pens

because I was told I should keep a journal to help deal with/recover from PTSD. I figured if I'm going to write I should use something nice. I started cheap, but boy did I get hooked. On a daily basis I carry 5 TWSBI Vac 700's all with different Noodler inks. As of the past week...

    Technical Pens

What have been some of my favorites are the technical pens made by Koh-I-Noor, Pelikan, Rotring and Staedler.  I had a Rapidograph set in college and enjoyed many years of using them on my drawings. Even more useful were the...

    There Are No Fence-sitters Here....

It has been my experience that, when it comes to fountain pens, people are either FOR them....or AGAINST them....using a fountain pen in public brings out more reactions from strangers than voicing a political opinion.....other people tell you about their pens....OR tell you why...

    $1 Sheaffer Pens

For me it all started with $1.00 Sheaffer pen. If you are old enough, you remember them; a pen and 5 cartridges for a dollar, Tranluscent bodies for the most part with medium steel nips. My mother used them to do permenant ledger entries. Now I own more than a few of the popular...
