I've been listening to traditional Irish music for over 25 years now. I have CD's and albums by groups like the Chieftans, De Danaan, the Irish Rovers and others. I also like newer Irish music such as Clannad, U2, and the Corrs.

It has to be the real thing though - no guitars, banjos, bouzoukis or any of that nonsense.
Nothing spoils a tune like guitar accompaniment providing 'countermelody'. It's ghastly and completely alien to the tradition.
i've always loved traditional irish music. recently, however, i've found the band scythian to be absolutely intoxicating. i really cant explain how great these guys are. if they're playing in your area, please please please check out a show.

what other style of music has that kind of folk feel with such a great beat and goes good while drinking or partying, and in the same moment turn to a style of music that deserves the utmost respect . I can't think of too many that can
