    2000 Miles In Stories

Just recently I drove 1000 miles to a high school reunion. I did the drive to in one sitting and split it up on the way back. I went through three books on CD from booksfree.com--they are not free by the way, but the books made it so incredible bearable and kept me awake. I...

If not for audio books I never would have discovered Nicholas Sparks and he is now one of my favorite writers.  Audiobooks are a great way to pass along the time on a plane or a long trip.

    My Favorite Commuting Friend

I have a 29 mile commute each way in Los Angeles. Off peak, its a 35 minute drive.  During rush hour it can be up to 2 hours one way.  Sooo...on average I get through one unabridged audio book per week.I love having the time to myself.  Some people look at long commutes as...

    Happy Commuting

Audiobooks have made me a much more content commuter. About a year ago, I started listening to audiobooks on my way to and from work. I don't do it every day anymore because I realized that I was missing my normal time for internal reflection and thinking through things. But, I...

    I Have a Long Commute

I love to listen to music in the car, but when I know I will have a longer trip than usual, I'll listen to audiobooks I get from the library.  I only get them if they are unabridged, since I don't want to miss a single thing.

I just finished listening to "A Long Way Gone,

a memoir of a boy soldier", by Ishmael Baeh. The book was read by the author. He has a wonderful voice and he tells his story in a straightforward way without being detached. He is an amazing man to have overcome such horrific experiences.

I am pretty much obsessed with Audible.

com. I have over 60 audio books and I listen to them more than I do music. In fact, I prefer them to music. One of my favorite narrators is Jim Frangione. He can bring any book to life with his deep, rich, and full bodied masculine voice. He also knows how to turn it down at just...

    They Work!

An audio book is so much easier to get through than text. It can wash over me, instead of making me swim. and I can 'read' a lot longer if i'm not using my eyes to do it. I even seem to remember audio books I've read better than traditional ones. I'm a writer myself, and i love...

I discovered that if you live in the state

if CA you can have an e-library card from any library in the state. This is possible with the Overdrive ap. The only hitch is that you have to apply in person. So far I I can check out e-audiobooks from the three coastal counties in southern CA.

Audiobooks are my favorite way to "read" a book. Don't get me wrong, I like flipping the pages still, but audiobooks can be a great way to hear a story while multi-tasking. I love to pop in my earbuds and listen while I clean the house or do chores. Series are my favorite. I...
