Finished One Yesterday While Doing Laundry!

It is so relaxing to do laundry while I'm listening to someone read to me!  I finished Meridith Baxter's book "Untied" yesterday.  I prefer the audiobooks as read by their authors and unabridged.  However, I just began Paul Shaffer's book and don't know if I can listen to his...

I just finished "The Incredible Lightness of

Being". The "lightness of being" is living without commitment, living in chaos. Hurting those we love. The "heaviness of being" is commitment. It grounds us. It keeps us stable and secure.

Why Didn't Anyone Tell Me That This Is Amazing?

I'm trying to read as many novels as I possibly can this month so I decided that I would get an audio book for the car rides so that I can double up on reading. Right now, I'm listening to Monster by Frank Peretti. Its pretty good! At the beginning of each chapter they do a ...

    My Favorite Commuting Friend

I have a 29 mile commute each way in Los Angeles. Off peak, its a 35 minute drive.  During rush hour it can be up to 2 hours one way.  Sooo...on average I get through one unabridged audio book per week.I love having the time to myself.  Some people look at long commutes as...

    I Have a Long Commute

I love to listen to music in the car, but when I know I will have a longer trip than usual, I'll listen to audiobooks I get from the library.  I only get them if they are unabridged, since I don't want to miss a single thing.

What They Want To Hear On Audio Books

I just finished listening to "A Long Way Gone,

Currently listening to an audio book called

'Baby, It's Cold Outside' written by five American women. The audio book is divided into 6 parts, more than 2 hours long each. I like it because it reminds me of my strong relationship and the main female character is very similar to the woman I loved.

It takes a little while to get used to the idea

that listening to audiobooks really is a form of reading. You don't get the full benefit that a book gives of building vocabulary and seeing words spelled out in a text. You don't learn as much from audiobooks but the experience is massively entertaining. Its like the old...

Audiobooks are my favorite way to "read" a book. Don't get me wrong, I like flipping the pages still, but audiobooks can be a great way to hear a story while multi-tasking. I love to pop in my earbuds and listen while I clean the house or do chores. Series are my favorite. I...

    They Work!

An audio book is so much easier to get through than text. It can wash over me, instead of making me swim. and I can 'read' a lot longer if i'm not using my eyes to do it. I even seem to remember audio books I've read better than traditional ones. I'm a writer myself, and i love...

I discovered that if you live in the state

if CA you can have an e-library card from any library in the state. This is possible with the Overdrive ap. The only hitch is that you have to apply in person. So far I I can check out e-audiobooks from the three coastal counties in southern CA.
