I Love Musical Theatre

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 407 People

Few weeks ago I worked hard in my schools

production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. I wasn't part of the class but still wanted to help. I volunteered like 30 hours on set construction and like 40 more hours as a stage hand. At the last performance I was awarded a rose in the Rose ceremony. To get a rose you usually have...

    Musical Theater Is My Life

If life were a musical, the ennui of my dreaded and loathed Walmart Supercenter grocery trips would be colored with a random outburst of song and dance. Walt Disney World day-trips would be fun with a flashmob of performers doing a musical scenario which would...

    New Friends

Before I could drive, I didn't get the chance to see much theatre. I could never convince my mom to take me to touring shows that were so expensive, so I just savored the occasional night out. But once I got to borrow my mom's car I found myself spending a whole lot of my free...

Theatre ... Ah, My First Taste of Freedom

I have always loved the theatre. Being a performer has always been part of me from toddler age. Though I don't snub film making, the theatre to me has always been more...primal. It portrays beautiful, raw, emotions. Those emotions are allowed to be set free in all their...

    This Is My Escape

Some days I feel like Erik, hidden peacefully behind the mask with music as my only refuge, misunderstood in a harsh world. Then others I may feel like Elphaba, a freak unable to fit in. I could be like Eponine, feeling alone, unloved, or Cinderella, searching for something...

I've seen quite a lot, mostly local productions but a few professional. The first one I ever went to was Cats, I think my grandmother took my mother and I. I missed out on a chance to see a Reg Livermore production of Rocky Horror because I was offered when I was only about 14...

stories or bad experiences? I'll share my worst experiences first. In the 5th grade play, me and one boy were randomly casted Europeans and we were the only ones with no costume, 1 line with 2 words, and sticking our faces outside of holes cut out on painted boards. It sucked...
