    I have two daughters.

The oldest is actually my step daughter 15, who I have raised since before her second birthday. The second is my 12 year old, computer whiz. Man, this dad thing is not easy. I think if there were a user manual for being the dad of a teen girl, it would easily be over 10,000...

Being a single mom at the age of 55 can get a

bit lonely. My son tries to prevent me from having a life. But my gorgeous daughter is the exact opposite. Today she set me up with her guy friend who's 29. The guy is a professional dancer and he's amazing. She told me I looked stressed so she texted him and told him to show me...

But I am hard on her sometimes.

...learning not to be though. I discipline when I need to for her good but sometimes I am snappy. Parents learn to be transparent and say sorry when you need to...that's how I show her Dad still makes mistakes...and I am fostering trust and safety and love with her. Funny, God...

She gives me a fashion show in the mornings

before school and asks me how she looks. She was brown today and had on baggy patterned pants, tastefully mismatched socks, a tshirt with a big tie-die patch, and a long-sleeved open blouse. This all set off her hair, bringing out golden tones from her normally brown hair. She...

Today is her 16th birthday. She should be happy, but she's spent the better part of the morning crying. It's her love life that has her down. She's broken up with her first real boyfriend for the 3rd time. Hopefully this is the end of that. He's an ***. He does this whole "just...

I Love My Beautiful Daughter, Aliana <3

Aliana was born August 11th by c-section early in the morning. She weighed 8lbs and 4 ounces and she's 21 inches long. Quite a big baby! I love her so much! More than anything! When I first found out I was pregnant, to be honest, I was scared. I didn't know what I was going to do...

    Things Every Father Should Know

Chances are when you left the hospital with your baby girl you were not handed an owners manual. Girls are complicated creatures. You can't just tell them to shake it off when they scrape their knee. They are miniature women that cry, get emotional, are moody, and have unique...

People often make daughters out to be a burden

in their tweens. That's the wrong attitude and I think it hurts girls. My daughter is 12 and not a burden. Sure, we are going through an explorative phase since she has never been through puberty before and I have never been a father to a tween daughter, but I love every minute...

So much animation as she describes the play she was in at school- at one point she said "...I was so nervous I was biting my nails to buggery...". What twelve year old talks that way? She comes up with the most unique things, that ones truly at the top of the list though.
