My husband is 6'1, strong and can easily pickup two of me in his arms. He loves the outdoors, and we often go on hikes. I will never forget something that happened when we went hiking the trails of the American River in Sacramento a few years ago. We were switchbacking on a deer trail and as we were descending into this truly beautiful area with rolling hills and ancient oaks we saw a cloud of butterflies around us-it was like a gift, like God was embracing us. My husband said "look" and he turned half way towards me. There was this delicate wing that was an iridescent blue, moving about in his gently clasped hands. I reeled back in shock then laughter when the butterfly stuck his furry black leg towards me. I will never forget my husbands big strong hands, gently and lovingly holding this creature. Then undoing his hands he allowed the butterfly to gather itself and fly away. I love my husband and this story says so much about why.

My Husband loves to go to Starbucks and hang out. I call it his 'Guradwara', that means 'Gods Door' in Punjab. He laughs because it is true. It is a place where he relaxes, reads the paper and restores his soul. Last night, when he came home he pulled a little packet from his jacket and gave it to me. It was a small sample of Starbucks Columbia instant coffee, the barrista gave it to him for free. Touched, I thanked him, in a way it was like he was sharing his 'SB experience' with me, so I took that little packet and tucked it away. This morning I broke it out of the little special place on the bookshelf where I had tucked it away and really enjoyed it. Thinking of how thoughtful it was that he got that just for me!

Everyday when he leaves for work, I miss him so much. I want to be with him. I think about him all day, even if he is in the background- he is still there. When he comes home, I am so so happy. Hum may coosea legay Tum gkurry igaya!

Translation:
I am happy you are home!

He walks with me for a bit. And turns to me, there is a short dumpy woman that is walking aggressively towards us and he hold up an arm surrounding me, so that if she wants to crash into me as she passes, she will have to go through him first. I look into his eyes, they are ageless, deep as the night. I am so lucky to be this person that he looks at this way. I am so grateful to him.

I love my husband. Every morning, before he leaves for work, he writes me a message on the dry erase board. He has lunch with me and when his co-workers tell him he is whipped, he replies, "Unlike some people, I actually love my wife and want to be with her more than anyone else." After I get out of the shower, I find that he has laid out my clothes for me on the bed. He is constantly thinking of ways to make me more comfortable and happy. I know I can count on him for anything and that I can trust him with everything.
