My eldest brought me breakfast in bed Sunday

morning. My youngest has written a bunch of songs, including the sure fire hits "I Love Piggies", "Pulling My Pants Down" and "Cold Coffee", which comes with a choreographed dance.

So last night I went on Facebook to post a New

Year's quote. I got a notification that my son had commented on it, so logged back on to check. And sure enough, his comment was that he had unknowingly posted the same quote, not realizing until he saw mine, and that I had beat him to it! Very cool. But cooler still...he used...

My two youngest returned to school last week,

and while I normally am there to help them get ready and get on the bus, I was out of town most of last week. Today in addition to the normal routine, my son had an orthodontist appointment so I also agreed to drive them to school. Although those times are short, they are...

My five year old learned to ride her bike today.

This was completely unexpected as we had not been out with her bike sans training wheels since last fall. But with the first push down a slight hill, she was off and pedalling. The smile on her face as she rode back and forth along the path with her older sister was priceless...

but sometimes they wake up way too early.

I usually get up before anyone else to have time to stretch and enjoy the peace of the early hours. today my early hours are occupied with all things less than peaceful. such is the nature of fatherhood however, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

It's a series of rules that continually change as the child grows. Without the rules and the boundaries the child will not feel safe enough to continue to grow tall, strong and happy. That child will not trust the world and will allow others to violate their boundaries because...
