    Oh, This Child!

To my daughter: My smart mouthed, spunky, brave, intelligent little girl. You're almost 10. Last I checked that was still far from adulthood, despite what you might think and try to tell me. These 'talks' we have are. So. Exhausting. I love that you come to me with everything...

I was just looking at my daughter. She makes me feel like a father ought to: warm, with a glow, proud and protective, blessed, connected, feeling the love flow.  She is pale with rosy cheeks when she sleeps, utterly at peace.  She’s been happier these last two weeks.  I...

Being a stay at home mom,

with 4 kids and three are under the age of two, most days I want to pull my hair out. But at the end of the day as I look at my sleeping little joys I feel this wave of accomplishment, I helped create them, they are my reason for being strong, and getting through the day.

Parenting is almost never a negotiation.

It's a series of rules that continually change as the child grows. Without the rules and the boundaries the child will not feel safe enough to continue to grow tall, strong and happy. That child will not trust the world and will allow others to violate their boundaries because...
