    A Long History

I have been playing chess for about 19 years now. I have played online, played with real life friends, taught some how to play, been in a chess club, and was even in a few Junior Level tournaments when I was younger. My best finish in one of these tournaments was third in a...

    I feel a little like a hunter

when I play? Something attractive to me about watching the other person contemplate their options, only to realize their moves are inevitable. The closest I get to observing prey.

Alexander Alekhine is supposed to have said

that you should cultivate the most intense and supercilious contempt imaginable for your opponent in chess. I'm not sure such an attitude is conducive to the most effective play, but it does afford an undeniable, if morbid and decadent, form of pleasure when you happen to be...

    Chess Without The Queen

Playing Chess without the Queen piece which is the Most powerful piece, absolutely taught me not to relay on things that are seemingly garauteed. I started playing Chess along with my siblings around about 9yrs old, was hard at first but I finally become a good player. I...

    Chess Is T3h Pwnage

My grandfather is the chess-player in the family. He tried to teach my mum and aunt, but they didn't like it, and nor did my grandmother. When I came along, he taught me, and I fell in love with it.As a kid, I didn't really like playing the traditional chess game XD I mean, I...

Something to Do With It Being a Man's Game

I play chess, love it, and although definiely not a master, I am quite well at it. I guess its the general view that "chess is a man's game, man obviously being the more intelligent geder" that had driven me to it in he first place. The love grew in years. I am more of...

    Chess Is Perfect.

To me, playing chess is the ultimate experience. It is 64 perfect squares, and 32 pieces, that can never change, they can never be altered, the knight will always move in an "L" shape, the bishop will always move diagonally, etc. Whenever I do anything, whether it's watch a movie...

I'm no master, and unlikely ever to win any big

tournaments, but I have always enjoyed a decent game of chess. When I need to relax and unwind, and just can't be bothered to read, and can't get into anything else, or if I'm feeling stressed about anything, a good game of chess relaxes me and calms my mind like nothing else...

It's really fun. You don't have to run

or whatever, the chances of getting injured are very low. Chess really helps your thinking skills too. You can't win on luck, you need skill. That means having to do some work. Another great thing about chess, is that almost anyone can play it.

A friend's 7 year old daughter taught me how to

play chess! And then I taught my own teenager how to play. I rarely won against my pint-size teacher, and now my son takes me to the cleaners as well. Kids are brutal sometimes, haha! I start every game with the statement "Ok, no more chances for you!" But we both know I'm...
