I have really gravitated towards Spanish wines.

..anything from the Priorot region has been great....I like the Montsants that I have had as well...I am no oenophile, that is for certain but love a great, bold, juicy red wine!

I love red but it has to be sweet.

I can't stomach anything too dry. My favourite red wine sub-genre would certainly have to be Port wine. Fulfilled one of my bucket list wishes by touring the Port Houses of Porto this summer just gone with my partner. Managed to attend a few tastings ;)

    Doctor Recommended

Some people say Reds are only for winter, white for summer.  I love the taste of the reds year round. Years ago, I worked at a stroke unit in a huge city. Almost daily, the docs would discuss the benefits of red wine in the prevention of stroke. Then they began discussing...

    The Beaune Teurons 1996

A single bottle from a mixed case purchased directly from Bouchard Pere & Fils. The good news is that we purchased several mixed cases of their 1996 selections, so there are more of these to share I am very pleased with this wine.  I did not have particularly high...

I love red wine. I'm sitting here with a glass

of Malbec from Argentina. I used to think wine had to be sweet and white so I could guzzle it. Then I slowly began changing and now, all I want to drink is a good rather thick red wine, usually on the dry side and some bite. Not into the California bland style of Merlot. I'm...

    It's A New Love

New love is sometimes the best.  That first realization that you are in love, that your senses are overwhelmed, and that your mesmerized by another.  Ah yes, new love.  It's unfortunate that sometimes the newness of love is the best part, and then it's down hill...

    Tonight

As I know you have all been anxiously awaiting my wine choice, here it is.  With my large steak I had a 2001 Merryvale Oakville Grade Red.  This wine is 82% cab, 12% Merlot blend.  Outstanding.  I'm drinking it even as we speak.

    Cab Tonight

For dinner tonight I have a rather large steak waiting for me.  As an aside the dog has a rather large bone that she's looking forward to chewing on.  In any event, on the rare occasions that I eat steak these days I prefer a big cab to go with it.  I haven't...

I Love Red Wine - Chateau Gruaud Larose 1983

Tonight while reading on EP, I decided to have a glass of wine to keep me company LOL.  The top 1983 Bordeaux are drinking very well now. Gruaud Larose is a chunky, concentrated Saint-Julien with rich berry fruit and a depth of flavour. Very satisfying. This is the...

    My Favourite

I love beer, but my favourite alcoholic drink is red wine.  I especially love Australian red wine, in particular any of 'Hardys' wines.  Eaten with cubes of smoked Cheddar cheese, 'Seriously Strong' cheddar, or cheese footballs, it is a special treat.  I also like...

Growing up, I remember watching my dad with his

wine, his favorite was white. We went out to dinner weekly, always on Sundays, and it was always a three hour affair (one I've come to appreciate as I've gotten older). He'd pick bottles of wine and always knew what he was doing; he was a wine connoisseur. My dad owned a...
