I Love Running

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 5,070 People

    I run because I'm happy.

I run away from being sad. I run because I'm strong. I run away from being weak. I run because I just made peace. I run away from a fight. I run because I want to be with people. I run away from being lonely. I run for life. I run away from death. No matter what I do, or...

Ran 8 Miles A long overdue update about my

running. In May, I successfully finished my 10 k race in less than an hour, as my goal was. Unjusted was there to cheer for me, after completing a shorter race on her own. It felt great. I’m already signed up for a half-marathon in November. Plan to take up training for...

I'm not fit. I'm not fast.

I'm overweight. But I love running! Especially until my legs feel numb and can't take it no more. It feels great. When I can't go out for a run, I just use the threadmill at home after midnight for half an hour or so non stop. My body aches so much but it feels so so good...

I'm planning to start the "couch to 5k" running

program tomorrow, and I can't wait! I know it's going to be miserable for the first couple of days as my body adjusts to running again, but it'll be worth it when I've proven to myself I have what it takes to stick it out. My motivation to run is my desire to join the Marine...

Yesterday I ran a personal best 5K of 26 minutes

and 52 seconds. My best 5K in a race is 28 minutes and 2 seconds. I have found that increasing the incline on the treadmill from 2.0 to 3.0 and 4.0 is helpful. Today I completed a 5K on the treadmill in about 32 minutes with an average incline of 4.5. Tuesday I will have...

My first marathon ever was yesterday.

City of Chicago. 40,000 runners. It was such an amazing experience to see close to 1 million people along the course cheering and volunteering for a positive cause. I "high five" hundreds of people along the way. All that positive energy will stay with me for a long time .

..! My first half-marathon accomplished at just a little over my target (2hours 3minutes) but the most important thing is: unlike last year, my 1st 10K race, this was completely injury free! I'm ready to go running again tomorrow! How awesome is that? Am I happy...?! YES...

and it was completely different to road running. I twisted my ankle on the first 2km but luckily it was sideways and not forwards so I made it okay. The harder things are the better it is to complete them. The vibe is also awesome and there was live music and I had a nice chat...
