I Love Running

    I run because I'm happy.

I run away from being sad. I run because I'm strong. I run away from being weak. I run because I just made peace. I run away from a fight. I run because I want to be with people. I run away from being lonely. I run for life. I run away from death. No matter what I do, or...

When I've made that decision I love it,

from the time I lace up my shoes onwards. It takes me a minute or two jogging on the spot to get my pace and breathing coordinated, then I set off nice and easy. A lot of runners use music to keep them in a private bubble but I get so lost in it that for safety I prefer to keep...

First time I took a stroll in Central Park I

noticed people jogging along very slowly and thought they were crazy. But I knew I needed to do something. So I set small goals for myself. Nothing too difficult. Jog to a post about 50 yards away. Nobody takes any notice of you, let alone judge you. Soon I was extending my...

    My First Beach Run

I'm spending my July 4th weekend near the beach. I woke up real early this morning, just before dawn, and decided to take short drive to the beach near Pine Knoll Shores, NC, parked and went out for my morning run. Sometime last year, I bought a pair of running sandals and...

Yesterday I went trail running with friends

and went further than I normally allow myself. We ran 9.3km. That's the longest run I have done since injuring my ankle a while ago. Work up this morning with a few sore muscles in my feet, but otherwise ok. So happy the ankle is finally healing enough to allow longer distance...
