I Love the Sea

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 1,094 People

Doesn't the sound of the waves

or the smell of the sea just calms you down? Whenever I need a place to find inner peace and calm the turmoil inside me, I walk around the beach take deep breaths and later collect some seashells and make a sandcastle.. I miss the feeling of the wet sand around my feet..

    Another Way

To get away from it all is to be out on the sea. Beauty, peace, tranquility. Well, and the occasional really bad storm, but I love storms so that just adds to the fun.

I once knew a woman with eyes like the sea on a

summer's day. Our love was intense, passionate, destructive, laughter and loud music, petrol to a bonfire and near killed me. I still miss it at times..

    By the Sea

I was born and lived by the sea, when ever I can I like to walk along the beach i feel totally at home there with the waves the smell of the fresh salty air and sand beneath my feet. The queezy pitch and roll and the slop of the water on the boats hull as land slowly slips into...

A Plea For the Sea ~~

Have you ever put a shell to your ear and listened to the sea? You should.  Oh wait, you don't have to do that anymore. There are many other voices to be heard.  The sea and its creatures are sending us a message. ...

But you have been here for ever. Your great waves crashed upon the shore when my grandparents were little. The same sounds, the same wind. With you nothing has changed. We think we have changed. We think we know so much more than you did. It's nonsense. The wind still howls, the...

I Wish I Lived By the Sea

There is something calming yet frightening about the sea. It scares me that it is such a big open space that we know so little about. The idea of giant squids and other such animals live in it. Yet at the same time, it is one of the most peaceful, beautiful things to watch. Even...

Ok. I said it was quiet.

It ain't. The tide has come in. It's noisy. Where I live we have a huge tidal range. The Bay of Fundy in Canada has the highest. We have the second highest! One minute there is no water to be seen. Six hours later the waves are crashing at your door!

I lived for most of my life in the UK.

Miles from the sea, I used to go there for a holiday or to dive but not often. Now we live in Malta, it's such a small Island. The sea is just about visible from our roof, it takes 30 mins to walk to the sea! We are very lucky!

    La Mer...

I could never live someplace far from the sea, some place really inland. I must have sea salt running in my veins. The sea calls me, and I weep every time I witness the glisten of the Mediterranean big blue from the air, when I return to its embrace for my first summer swim.
