The Threat to the Sea I Love

Many of my favorite memories, and many that I am making today happen on or close to the sea.  That is why it disturbs me that so often I will tune to the news and find that some municipality along the river leading to the sea has had an "accident" in which tons of...

I would be in it, by it,

on it, listening to it, smelling it, sailing on it, surfing on it, snorkelling through it, choosing my wardrobe by it all day long. I want to move beside it. I suspect I must have been a sailor's wife in a previous life.

I love the sea. I live far away,

but when I visit, it's a cherished time. I've never felt such relaxation or felt so much magic around me than when I was there.

    I live on an estuary.

Sometimes the tide is in and sometimes it's out. There's nearly always waves somewhere. On the beach or on the off shore sandbanks. Sometimes you see the river flowing really strongly inland and sometimes out. It changes all day long.

I live by the sea. It's actually an estuary.

As I write this it is high tide and the estuary is full. It's quite windy and the waves are high and the water is choppy. We have a huge tidal range. The highest in the world after Bay of Fundy. The tide has started to go out and the water is flowing past my window so fast!

Doesn't the sound of the waves

or the smell of the sea just calms you down? Whenever I need a place to find inner peace and calm the turmoil inside me, I walk around the beach take deep breaths and later collect some seashells and make a sandcastle.. I miss the feeling of the wet sand around my feet..

I was born, unaware, 30 miles from the sea. Grew up loving the moors, but always cherrishing our trips to Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington (to name a few), I was a landlubber though, with a deep sea fisherman for a dad, tied to the land by my need for rugby and a none oceanic...

    La Mer...

I could never live someplace far from the sea, some place really inland. I must have sea salt running in my veins. The sea calls me, and I weep every time I witness the glisten of the Mediterranean big blue from the air, when I return to its embrace for my first summer swim.

days! Today the sea is quieter. I went to a little beach this morning before school. The sea had thrown up tiny bits of shell. There was a beach where it wasn't before!

I love the sea, and feel very drawn to it.

I lived for most of my life in the UK.

Miles from the sea, I used to go there for a holiday or to dive but not often. Now we live in Malta, it's such a small Island. The sea is just about visible from our roof, it takes 30 mins to walk to the sea! We are very lucky!

I Wish I Lived By the Sea

There is something calming yet frightening about the sea. It scares me that it is such a big open space that we know so little about. The idea of giant squids and other such animals live in it. Yet at the same time, it is one of the most peaceful, beautiful things to watch. Even...

To get away from it all is to be out on the sea. Beauty, peace, tranquility. Well, and the occasional really bad storm, but I love storms so that just adds to the fun.
