I Love the Sea

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 784 People

I love the sea. I live right by it.

On an estuary. The view changes all the time. If the tides out you just looking at sand and people are out picking cockles. If the tides in it's just water. This morning the sea was so calm there was no noise but the mountains either side were shrouded in mist. The last few days...

A place where all seems ok,

the smell and the sounds that come with sitting by the sea is breathtaking. A place where you can go and forget any worries you have even if it is just for a short time. Taking in the colour of the sea and the sun reflecting and making it sparkle, the sound each wave makes...

I love the sea. I live far away,

but when I visit, it's a cherished time. I've never felt such relaxation or felt so much magic around me than when I was there.

    La Mer...

I could never live someplace far from the sea, some place really inland. I must have sea salt running in my veins. The sea calls me, and I weep every time I witness the glisten of the Mediterranean big blue from the air, when I return to its embrace for my first summer swim.

    Ocean Girl

I am a lover of the sea. An ocean girl to the core. I love the sea so much I am miserable when a year passes and I haven't at least dipped in it. Two months ago I dipped my feet in the waters of southern Greece after an absence of 6 years and it felt wonderful! I wish I could...

I was born, unaware, 30 miles from the sea. Grew up loving the moors, but always cherrishing our trips to Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington (to name a few), I was a landlubber though, with a deep sea fisherman for a dad, tied to the land by my need for rugby and a none oceanic...

Tonight the sea is really rough.

It's a storm that started as a hurricane. We get them in Autumn. The waves are about 10 metres and breaking over the sea wall. Loads of people are coming to see and ha ha all the girls are going home with wet trou. I expect the boys are too but they mostly wear black so you can...

A Plea For the Sea ~~

Have you ever put a shell to your ear and listened to the sea? You should.  Oh wait, you don't have to do that anymore. There are many other voices to be heard.  The sea and its creatures are sending us a message. ...

I love the sea, and feel very drawn to it.

There is something about the sea and its character and contents that I have always found most enticing. I come from a historic seaport in England, and grew up hearing many tales of life at sea, and I have several friends and relatives who have spent a lot of time out on the...

To get away from it all is to be out on the sea. Beauty, peace, tranquility. Well, and the occasional really bad storm, but I love storms so that just adds to the fun.

Song of the Sea The surf strokes the wet sand.

The Threat to the Sea I Love

Ok. I think I must be lucky.

I live like 20 metres from the sea. It changes all the time. The tidal range here is the second highest in the world. On a high tide the waves are breaking just outside the house. It's such a relaxing sound at night.

The sea was really rough last week.

The waves were coming over the sea wall onto the railway. But it has gone quieter today. This morning I walked to a little beach near my house and sat on the rocks. There were three oystercatchers who didn't seem to notice I was there. They are really pretty birds and the song...

I lived for most of my life in the UK.

Miles from the sea, I used to go there for a holiday or to dive but not often. Now we live in Malta, it's such a small Island. The sea is just about visible from our roof, it takes 30 mins to walk to the sea! We are very lucky!

Doesn't the sound of the waves

or the smell of the sea just calms you down? Whenever I need a place to find inner peace and calm the turmoil inside me, I walk around the beach take deep breaths and later collect some seashells and make a sandcastle.. I miss the feeling of the wet sand around my feet..

I Wish I Lived By the Sea

There is something calming yet frightening about the sea. It scares me that it is such a big open space that we know so little about. The idea of giant squids and other such animals live in it. Yet at the same time, it is one of the most peaceful, beautiful things to watch. Even...
