    The Forest At Dusk

Ever since I installed a wood-burner to get me through the winter, I have kept a tradition of going out into the forest at dusk to forage deadwood. I like the feeling of a place that is returning to nature - even though some of the sounds can be un-nerving. As the light fades...

I Love The Smell Of The Woods

When I was small, my folks would let me roam around all over the place.  We lived very near the woods.  At that time, it was unheard of that grown ups would abuse, steal, or do much of anything to a kid.  From about 4 until we moved to where there are no woods, I...

The smell of pine and spruce and damp earth and sunshine, all combine to create a feel of comfort and peace.

    Under a Blanket of Leaves

It's late fall... the leaves look as if a paintbrush dipped in watercolor dragged across their veined surfaces. I look upward to admire them and find myself getting dizzy with delight. Under foot, the ground is soft...I sink slowly into it and leave my mark in this magical...

    Walked just for a mile

as the Sun was setting over the sea. A beautiful Jacob's ladder appeared casting gold, orange and pink hues across the approaching twilight. The earthy, smoky scents of early bonfires fill the air and I look forward to making hot chocolate when I return home.

    Being a City Girl

I have only been in the woods a few times. I love walking or driving in and feeling the change in atmosphere. The cooler wetter air, the smell of sweet, damp earth, hearing the birds in the trees. The lush green and the feeling of complete connection!
