    Distant Train From My Window

I love the sound of the distant train from my window! I live about 2 miles from the train station but I can hear the choo choo sounds faintly and it always gives me a pleasant feeling, and I don't know why. Maybe because trains were fascinating as kids and there's so many kids...

Rock a Bye Me to the Sound of a Train Passing...

I'm very fortunate to have a new home period; much less a home with a lake in the backyard and the sound of trains passing - almost every night.  I just wish I lived closer to it's whooshing sounds and organ-like whistle.  It lulls me to sleep everytime.

    I live by some tracks.

At present, I'm listening to a train passing and I'm realizing that it is strangely comforting. I've lived places where I wasn't this close, but could hear them in the distance. I've also lived where I couldn't hear them at all and didn't realize that I missed the sound so much...

    Memories

The sound of a rushing train, it's massive clanking wheels grinding against the sunbaked and rusty rail, the pulsing throb of the engines, the smell of black exhaust, the clunky, loud, but strangely humble horn; all of these things take me back to a place in my mind where all was...

The sound of trains has always been a part of

my life and it has somehow become oddly comforting, the apartment I live at now is close enough to the rail yard that it actually shakes my bed when trains are close and I can hear the cargo being loaded. You would think this would annoy me but I feel like it is better than...

    Something So Peaceful

about the sound of a train. I live by the beach, and there are tracks that go right along the beach. I can watch it go by from my living room window...when i'm lying in bed, i hear it quietly go by..there are time restrictions as to when they can sound the whistle...

    In E Flat

There is something largely archetypal 'bout trains. I mean the diesel ones. And the steam ones. As if they were around before they were even invented: shaking the ground with deep tiny tremors from far off in an unseen distance. Smoke plumes painting a faint haze in a long...

    The Train Goes Past...

The train tracks were behind my house when I moved in, and when I asked about them; the noise.  I was told not to worry a train hadn't been down those tracks for years.  I was quite relieved because the tracks are very close to my house.  However, a few months after I moved in...

    Trains Make Me Cuss.

I used to live on a farm on a hill. The train track was about 30 yards away from the house, and downhill about 10 yards. It was easy to fall asleep when the train went by, but definitely not when the conductor decided to press the horn. That would wake me up out of a deep sleep...
