I Love To Be By Water

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 1,498 People

I have a home by the water in a small community.

I have lived by the water since I was twelve. It's not just the water but the activity, the people, the boats and related vehicles, the sun rises and the sunsets. It is glorious!

    Water Tank Room Project

Being born on the Caribbean I was privileged to watch the bluest turquoise waters get lost in my body and almost drown in them too once. Because of my skin condition I was not supposed to catch a lot of sunlight , that's why after school I spent most of my time inside a water...

    River, stream, ocean,

lake, waterfall, lagoon it doesn't matter. Like fire, I can look at water and be mesmerized for hours. I can't really swim but I can float on my back looking up at the sky for hours as well. Engineering with rocks, shells, twigs, sand, leaves in and on the water taught me about...

    The Smell Of It

The air around it, the way it always seems to be moving while seeming completely still. I just love to be around or near water. I was born on an island, and moved to a peninsula. When I move again, I have to be in a place that has bodies of water, or somewhere near the coast. I...

    It Calms And Soothes Me

I'm not sure why but hearing water, being stood in rain, being in water....... it all helps me stay calm and collected. It can take me out of my any mood and it can automatically put me in a good one.No other way to explain it but I do love water.

    At Peace

I love to be by the water. It brings me peace and happiness. It is as if I am transported to another world, a world where all my problems seem to vanish. It is wonderful to escape from the world we live in, even for a moment. I love to be by water!

I love to be by the water

but even more so out on the water. I have been a sailor for forty years, I have several boats and I spend a lot of time by and on the water. It is not enough to love it, you have to actually do it.

    California Girl

I was born and raised in California. I have no desire to ever leave here. I can't imagine living somewhere where I couldn't reach the ocean within 30 minutes. My grandparents used to take me to beach all the time in Bodega. I lived in Arcata, Humboldt County for 9 years...

    I don't really know why

but I just love to be by the water. Today I went fishing and when we go flying through the water I just hang over the edge and get splashed. It's just fun to fell the breeze and smell the air.

    Walking On The Beach

I like listening to the waves as they rush in and hit the sand by my feet. I enjoy breathing in the sea air during a walk along the beach. It has been proven that the sound of waves alters wave patterns in the brain lulling you into a deeply relaxed state. I love the opportunity...

    Have Always Loved Water

Call me crazy if it makes you happy, but I've always felt more at peace near water. I've always had a water feature in or near my room so I could hear the soothing voice of the cascading water. I had a mister once, but it broke. One day when I get my own home, I'd love to build...

    I love everything about water.

..especially the lights from a boat shimmering on a lake in the evening as the water begins to calm and lose it's waves...pure serenity.

    One With Water

There is a very special place deep in the woods where I love to go, but Im not allowed. Hidden by tall lush trees and dense undergrowth, there is a stream that flows lazily by in some places, and falls in a series of waterfalls in others. Near the water is  a large, thick tree...

    I lived my whole life,

except for a couple years living abroad, no less than 15 minutes away from the sea. The sea is so much a part of our lives growing up in this part of the world. It's just a part of our make up, it's in our salty blood.

    Water. Water is life.

It can make one feel weightless in a world so heavy and dense. It is powerful. It is peaceful. It can sooth you. It can kill you. The water is incredible..

Today was a prime example of this - got out in

nature and the water was absolutely gorgeous. The weather was such that the waves were coming in with enough force to be heard throughout my walk. :-)

When I moved from lake country to the prairies,

it was the water that I missed the most. Im back in lake country now. Living on the lake is so relaxing. Watching sunsets, sunrises, swimming, paddling. It is the most stress free place to be. Sometimes I'll take my kayak out just to eat my lunch on the water.
