A Rare Instance Where the Film Is Almost As Good As the Book

I bought the DVD of this film recently and was pleasantly surprised how good it was and how faithful it was to the text. Like many, I read this in high school.  I haven't been able to re-read it since I've been on meds and my concentration is shot.  Grrrr.

    Trifecta You Betcha

A couple of nights ago we went to a performance of this play, and it was really well done. The actors were all excellent, even the children actors. Seeing the play completes the trifecta, I had already read the book years ago and seen the movie, and I loved them both. Atticus...

    A Book With a Point

I loved that book! It's written so well, and characters are wonderful, and it makes a big point.   Which is why I nearly cried when I read a comment on a web forum of "To Kill A Mockingbird" was a book that shouldn't have been made. (the topic was of course...

    I Read It Every Summer...

I simply love To Kill a Mockingbird. This novel is amazing in every way and form. It's beautifully put together, and I find myself sucked into the novel everytime while reading it. I love Atticus beyond words, he's so noble, I love the guidance he gives to Scout and Jem...

    My Favorite Book To Teach

I taught High School English and this is absolutely one of the best books ever. I taught in an inner-city school where racism was rampant. It did not matter if my students were from New York or Africa, we always found this book to be amazing, universal and true. We would watch...

I was 26 years old when I first read to Kill a

Mockingbird. For 2 days it was if the book was attached to my body. I fell in love with the characters and the story. I couldn't believe the author, Harper Lee, was still alive, nor could I believe she was a woman. To me the story's author was surely dead and a man.I thought the...

I LOVE To Kill a Mockingbird.

It has been one of my favorite books since reading it in high school. Its terrible that they had to ruin Harper Lees reputation with that terrible book. And now she has passed....

    Atticus

I have read To Kill a Mockingbird many, many times over the last 32 years. I love Atticus's integrity and moral fiber. He took getting spit on (literally and figuratively) so graciously. I aspire to be as morally sound and as emotionally collected as he is.

We did "To Kill a Mockingbird"

as a play when I was in High School. I played Bob Ewell, the bad guy. I still think about that production and all the people in play with me. I have to say it was a wonderful time in my young life. ;-)

    Classic

I actually managed to have a very pleasant discussion about it with several other people the other day as to whether it was a classic or not. I think we managed to go to new places with that discussion. Bolder, more exciting places not once touched by the hand of humankind. ...

    Absolutely my favorite book.

And movie! It's very realistic. And I love how Harper Lee wrote it using a child's voice. Atticus is definitely my favorite character, being the moral backbone in the story. He reminds me of my late father. And, I have to admit, Gregory Peck was a very attractive Atticus Finch.
