Bicycles are a big part of my life.

I started simply for pleasure, then for transport, and finally for adventure... I love exploring by two wheels.. I already wish winter were over. Still riding but sometimes it sucks.. I swear, someday I will ride my bike around the world...

I do love riding my bike.

.. But hitting a wet piece of plastic on the road and flying over the handlebars is NOT fun. I'm currently buried in ice packs and pumped full of Advil. I love you bike, but damn can you make me hurt!

Tomorrow will be the first day without rain in

3 days. I get off of work at 1 pm, and I plan on using the remaining 4-5 hours of daylight to ride as much as I can. At the end of it all, I will have burned enough calories to justify a fantastic meal and maybe even an icy treat from Starbucks :)

I got my first road bike

when I started college as a gift to myself using some money I'd saved up from my job. It was an old 10-speed with lever shifters and a steel frame, bought used at a local bike shop. I didn't think I'd come to love her so much, but the past few years travelling around my city and...

I guess only you true cycling geeks will care.

Richmond was always lucky because we would usually get a stage finish and maybe a time trial or a crit, or sometimes just a stage start the next day when the former Tour De Trump and it's successor the Tour Dupont would come through town. When I first started cycling seriously...

Okay so I really don't "love it".

But it is much better than walking since I'm not old enough to drive.

    I rode a healthy 32M today.

Enjoyed riding on the crunchy leaves and through the few puddles I found. I saw a clown walking around, and I half wondered if there is a, "I am afraid of clowns," experience on EP. Boaters were enjoying the water, and there was an occasional sunbather on a park bench...

I think this is probably the slowest start to a

season I've ever had. Apparently God thought it would be funny to send Virginia a real winter this year. I've posted on several occasions how I hate the cold, so I'm at least partly responsible for my lack of miles so far, being the cold weather weeny that I am. However...

2nd time back on a bike this past weekend

since early June when I did a ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. This weekend was for the Canary Challenge. 75 miles and 6800 ft of elevation gain. Was worried at first that I would have been too out of shape after an almost 4 month break from cycling, but I did fairly well...

I got my February ride in today.

On the Neuse River Trail in Raleigh. A nice trail with some rolling hills. I have a goal to ride at least once each month in 2016.

So glad UCI wasn't this week.

Plain rain. Nor'easter. Hurricane. This week has gotten worse day by day and my legs are aching to get back on the bike.

    A Former Tri-guy Enjoys The Ride…

For the last six years or so I have immersed myself in the world of triathlons. I worked my way up from sprint distance tri’s all the way up to the iron-distance. Last October I did my third iron-distance race. Doing tris and working my way up to iron-distance races was a...

Happy New Year. First time out

since the incessant bad weather started in the autumn. Fitter than expected. OK, I had to use bottom gear a couple of times but wasn't straining to climb the hills. No puffing and panting. Hope to go further next time.

    Always Loved Bicycles

When I was still very young I never needed to have training wheels to learn to ride. My father said "PEDLE FAST". SO I DID and away I went and never looked back. That first bike was a single speed old thing. My next bike was also a single speed dragster with the long banana seat...

Riding my bicycle cools down my emotions.

I love riding freely and without trying to keep up with speedy folks. I ride fixed gear, road, and mountain. Nothing beats the adventure rides with good music. I clipped my friend a couple of times and got hurt pretty bad but we're still pedaling. I used to be apart of the...

    Backers, Cross Bars And Handlebars.

I used to love getting a lift on my stepdads bike when I was little. I would be on the cross bar or on the handke bars dependng on my age and trip. It was so much fun and I never felt scared. Well maybe a little. I always had to get backers off my brothers because they weren't...

Went out this morning on the Greenway trail

    Ahh, Fall

Hate it. The only season I hate more is winter. For me, there really is no off season on the bike. Technically I ride all year, although as we creep ever closer to winter, there are certain days when you just can't get out. Or can't get out early. And unlike most of my...

I've been doing the urban commuting thing on my

bicycle for the past month. In the morning it feels really good I have to say. The ten mile mostly uphill ride home when its 95 with the humidity in insane rush hour traffic, now that's just an experience.

    I just bought this today.

Took it for a short ride, very comfortable. However, the ride dynamics are quite different from a D frame bike. The steering responds quicker and the center of gravity is changed. It will take some riding time to get used to the feel of a recumbent.

I've always owned a bike .. My first bike was red .... That's all I can really remember about it ... After that ... I owned a "chopper" ... With a huge long saddle .. And 3 gears ... A lever in the middle of the cross-bar.... After that.. Owned several "racing type" bikes...
