~ I was a fish when I was younger. Unfortunately once I started realizing that the snickers & laughing wasn't with me but at me.... Well swimming kinda lost it's appeal. There's something really nasty about being laughed at in a bathing suit. I don't know if it's...

Watched the documentary about Diana Nyad - "The

Other Shore". She attempted a 103 mile openwater swim (non-stop with the exception of peanut butter sandwiches fed to her by helpers in kayaks) from Cuba to Florida twice. At 30 and at 61. One hundred and three miles. What a badass dream.

My swim yesterday was a one-hour long session

of drills and some awkward flailing - or that is what it felt like! I am not sure why it felt so off..may be something I ate or perhaps the stresses of the past few days have caught up with me. I struggled in the water, taking breaths unevenly, dragging my legs like a wounded...

I never learned to swim. I could get by on my back just fine, but as for putting my face in the water without holding my nose...it wasn't going to happen. I always felt silly, but eventually I just got used to it and assumed I would never learn to swim. This summer my kids and I...

Swimming to me is in a sense natural,

even more than walking or talking. The fluid movements made in maneuvering through or under the water are beautiful. When I swim I feel free and apart from trivial worries. I wish I were a mermaid who lives swimming forever free in the wonder of the ocean. (〜^∇^)〜
