I Love Trail Running

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 120 People

Went running today on a trail not far from the

house. Use to run a lot last summer and have been slacking so far this summer. Felt good to get back out there. The path runs through a lot of woods so it's very quiet and peaceful. Good place to clear my mind and escape for a bit

I miss it. Right now my trails are XC ski trails

which I love. But yesterday was just too bitter cold for skiing so I went to the gym for a run on a treadmill. I love to run, but a treadmill just doesn't cut it.

    It's Not Always About Speed...

Once I start into the woods, I feel the familiar call of the woods beckoning me further and further into their comforting depth.  I look down and see the dirt trail leading forward, downhill and notice the small rocks mixed in.  As I pick up my pace I’m seeing...

This morning Runkeeper tells me I'm on my way

to the best PB of the season and I nearly reach the carpark when I come across a random lorry driver on the trail desperately asking me for directions to somewhere I'd NEVER heard of for approximately 10MINUTES of my PRECIOUS time. He refused to believe I had never heard of the...

Been a runner my entire life.

Better than any drug/therapy I've ever received. Suffer with depression and in a horrible relationship. My running has brought clarity to my life. I have some much to offer.

Had my first race this past Sunday

and despite being nervous I had a lot of fun and finished with a decent time. I can't wait to do it again next year and already looking into another race in the fall!

    Lovin' The Trails!

I started running trails just over a year ago when I discovered some great single track and great people to share it with just about 10 miles from my house. I love the challenge of running a trail, not having my foot hit flat with every step. I don't mind giving up some speed...

    Back To The Trails

After several days hiking the gorges viewing the waterfalls of the fingerlakes region of New York, I sadly had to return home.  First thing this morning I strapped on my trail shoes and headed for the woods so I could reconnect with nature of my home. It was sunny with a...

I have my first trail run race tomorrow morning,

a 10km, and I am way more nervous than I thought I would be. I know I can do it and the terrain/grade is perfect in my opinion, but my mind is all over the map!! Fingers crossed for a decent nights sleep so I'm not exhausted in the AM!

I Wish There Some Trails Here

I love running on a trail rather than a sidewalk- sidewalks hurt my feet. There aren't any trails close to where I live, unfortunately.

Pretty but chilly 3 mile run this morning.

I'm quite proud of how far I've come these past couple of months. I'm excited for warmer days as 35 degrees is a bit cold for me.

    100 Mile Ultramarathon

I just wanted to share that my coach (who is in his 60's) just ran his sixth 100 mile race up at Hardrock in Colorado. It only took him 44 hours. Just a mere 44 hours (I can't even stay awake that long). May I also add that the race does not occur on flat road, but rather...

When you're out running no two miles are ever alike. Some miles pass you by, one after the other, the world opens up, the sun comes out and your momentum carries you forward. Other miles you fight for tooth and nail through gritted teeth and scowling eyes. And these are the miles...
