Tulips are one of my favorite flowers... probably number 2 behind Peonies. Tulips last a lot longer than roses (at least the ones I buy) and my local grocery store sells them at a decent price so I can keep them in the house monthly (for as long as they are in season). ...
I don't know what it is about them but they are my absolute favorite! I've never received them but love to send them out. I remember the one time I left Florida to Georgia they were everywhere! It was so beautiful! Oh maybe I'll send myself some and sign the card "Love MSP...
Over the weekend we had some major storms and damaging winds.
Two 25 foot trees were knocked down in my yard,
as well as several large limbs.
Not a single delicate petal was disturbed in my tulip bed.
They stand proud and lovely on their skinny little stems.
If I was a Tulip
And you were wind's-wings,
I would not count
My broken dreams,
But bless the coming spring.
I would be happy
To know that you would
Touch my face
When the sun sets in.
I would feel you in full force,
Gently from within.
You would come to me
I love tulips. They're not a pretentious flower and are actually quite ordinary, but in their simplicity and elegance they are beautiful. When I have a home where I can have flowers, tulips will be the first flowers I plant.
Any color, I do not care.
They are so delicate and tall, they remind me of being feminine and strong.
They look sophisticated alone and complimentary to almost any other flower it is paired with.
I with they had a longer blooming season so I could enjoy them longer then the...
Tulips are my favorite springtime flower. I love watching as the green shoots begin to show through the earth early in the spring and day by day they grow until one day a green bulb is formed. Just as I am about to give up hope the green begins to open and there is a...
My daughter, (you may know her on here as TopazSkye) ;) was sweet enough to buy me beautiful tulips and a special cake with a ladybug and butterfly on it! (I collect both, but especially ladybugs)
*Waits for her to notice this post hehehe!*
I know it's officially spring!...They are so graceful and elegant, even in the way they gently droop...I have a basket of white silk tulips in my bedroom that I wake up to every day, making a cheerful hello to me, as I start my day...
Last Thursday, on my birthday, my husband gave me potted tulips. They were small, mostly leaves with only one blossomed tulip. By the next afternoon we had six beautiful tulips, I don't have any experience with tulips and this was quite a treat. Now, it's one week later and...
the attentive glance and curiosity
The deep glance that exceeds the surface
into the heart and soul
Like some love
I love them, they are so pretty. If a guy gave me a bunch, I'd love him forever....probably :-)
My oma loved them too. I like the fields of tulips in Holland, all the beautiful colors, lined up, blooming.
What a delightful flower.(bulb)
It was the first thing I planted in my city garden.
How big was my delight when in the spring they started to show up. All of a sudden they were there, inches high hard green leaves peeking from the barren land, straight and stubborn in the late winter wind. ...
here is a poem by Cicely Mary Barker that speaks so quaint of one of my favorite blooms...
"Our stalks are very straight and tall,
Our colors clear and bright;
Too many-hued to name them all -
Red, yellow, pink or white.
And some are splashed, and some, maybe
As dark as any plum...
