    Second-hand Books

I love going into second-hand book shops and going through shelves of old books. Not only are they cheap but you find books in them that you don't get anywhere else any more. I have found so many books that I remember from my childhood in second-hand book shops.

Everything is so cheap- Brand new books are

expensive :( But I don't mind, I love exploring the shelves for gold! I recently purchased the first two installments of Christopher Paolini's Eragon for under 4 pounds :D

I find used bookstores to be a great thing.

Especially when you find that book you could never find. Can't beat finding a new book at a discounted price. The experience of holding a physical book is a great one. I admit they can be dangerous also. I always I'm just looking then come out with 2 or 3 books.

    I love buying used books!

I bought most of my Agatha Christie novels used which saved me a lot of money! I love them! My favourite used bookshop actually permanently closed though. :(

    Wonderful Worlds Of Pre-loved Books

Used bookstores are comforting, homey, and endearingly shabby; yet at the same time they are mysterious.  You never know just what you'll find, and questing through the shelves really does resemble a treasure hunt.  (I mean, let's be honest... Who of us hasn't...

    It's odd,because i don't actually enjoy reading,

yet i love a good used book store. There was one store in the city.It was an older building.Three floors of narrow shelves, winding staircases, and musty books. I could browse there for hours.

The Economy Bookstore In Syracuse, NY

As a young teen, twice I had the opportunity to go to the bargain basement of the Economy Bookstore in Syracuse, NY with my parents on an infrequent trip to the Salt City. I was completely enamored and blown away by the whole experience. The high point was finding the Oz books by...

    Getting Lost

I can spend hours in a used bookstore. I love the smell of an old bookstore. I enjoy looking through the shelves of perhaps some books that I have been looking for. I enjoy finding old, old books with the leather bindings on them. I enjoy looking at the published dates and seeing...

    An Afternoon

Went into our used bookstore here and OMG came out 4 hours later, three more books to add to my collection, and a list of 12 more I would have like to have purchased if the funds were available. My bookstore has a trade policy, but for some reason I just can't seem to part with...

    I Lose Track Of Time...

I have to keep track of all the books I want to get in my head, so after I look through them, I can go back and just get the ones I want the most. Like I need any more books in my bookshelves... Of course I do...

Even When I'm Not Looking For Anything In Particular...

I find it physically impossible to pass a book shop (especially an antique or used book shop) without popping in and having a mooch around.

No Better Way To Spend A Day

I love bookstores period. I could (and have) spent hours browsing through a bookstore. The most amazing bookstore I ever visited was Powell's in Portland Oregon. The store meanders through various buildings across a city block. You literally get lost in the place. I also...

    2nd Hand Bookstores!

I am an avid reader, so 2nd hand bookstores are one of my weaknesses! When I was recently in New Zealand, visiting my daughter and her two daughters, they live on an island called Waiheki,in the bay of Auckland,in the small town, I found a tiny 2nd hand bookshop,so spent hours...

    The Book Ex

I used to live in Durham, North Carolina, home of the Book Exchange. It was a three story bookstore, and most of the inventory was used. They bought from and serviced Duke and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University. It was a...

We were on vacation last week.

I mentioned to my wife that i needed a book to read in the evenings. My wife picked up her phone and after a few seconds told me there was a used bookstore 1.5 miles from us. We drove to the place and went inside. The owner greeted us and said he had a special sale. Buy 3...

    Oh, I love that feeling.

You see those stacks of books and think of what treasures you might find. I end up sitting on the floor flipping through my 'finds' and lose track of time. I really love any type of bookstore but used ones satisfy my inner child!

My office serves also as a virtual bookshop. I sell used books, some very rare, on abebooks.com. The walls are lined with books, the cupboards are overflowing. I love the thought of being in my office/shop. The picture is of an 1832 edition of Tristram Shandy. The ex libris on...

    Going Fast

I do love used bookstores. When you step in the smell of old books and a slight musky odor greets you like an old friend. My favorite one is no longer open. It was always fun to wander around and read titles.Mr James was the owner and it seemed like he had read every book there...

    Friends Of The Library.
