To Walk Or To Hike . . . That's The Question?

I recently vowed that I shall not join any more groups on EP unless I publish at least one story in that group. It is turning out to be quite a challenge because I joined some of the groups just because I agree with the subject matter. In some of the other groups I’ve joined (e...

I love walking. When I walk,

everything that I'm thinking about just goes away, it's just me & whichever path choose to walk and I get there when I get there, no one is telling how I should walk, rushing me or telling me I have x-amount of time to get from here to there.

    Is there anything more relaxing

than going out for a long walk to nowhere in particular? Just keep going in the direction you're facing. The perfect way to clear your head from all the rubbish it gets filled with during the day. I've been known a good few times when I can't sleep, to get up, pull some jeans...

I could easily walk all day

as long as I have my music and headphones. I particularly enjoy walking in the countryside and I'm lucky enough to live near enough to go on long walks. I love getting into the depths and just sitting watching the river and listening to the birds.

    This may sound weird

as everybody walks but I like walking in my free time. Walking, especially on rainy days just really helps to clear the mind and have the weight lifted off your shoulders, walking alone is best as when you walk with people sometimes you can get busy chatting a lot, tho walking...

    Walking Fanatic

I walk as much as I can. When ever, where ever. From the streets of Manhattan to Knob hill in San Francisco. Minimum average of 45 miles a week. On a good day I can do 15 miles in 3hrs 45min. (Staten Island end 2 end) Running has too much impact for my taste. Did 8 miles of NYC...

When I was a kid I used to hate it!

!!! I had to walk 3 miles to school and back again everyday!!! Two days a week I also had a paper round after school too!! Add to that whatever the season was for school sports. Rugby, cricket, athletics, Cross country, swimming etc. I loathed it. !!!!! But these days. Because I...

Well I grew up in North Wales

and North Wales is my home so walking has always been one of the top activities for me. With some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole of Britain right on my doorstep it would be a travesty not to make use of it. Growing up I used to spend most of my weekends scaling the...

and valleys, anywhere in the nature and even in towns - to walk means freedom for me and to get a clear head.

Tonight I snuck away with my oldest

for a long walk. We walked along the water and watched ships pass. I realized that we have been together walking this very same path for years. When we started she was much shorter than I am. Now she is taller and becoming a young woman. These will be memories I never forget!

I love my walks. It's freedom

for me. Feels good walking with no pain. If it's raining forget it & I've have my crapy days where I can't walk (sore back). I get so jealous of people walking their dogs! I love to walk a dog. My sisters dogs don't like the road, nor walk well on the lesh. They r house dogs...

    I loved our walks, except

that it was always slightly embarrassing as we had a cat, and the cat used to come with us, on a lead. So I?ve walked a cat on a lead. Well a 30ft washing line. Because a cat won?t do as you tell it. My parents would have the cat on the lead, but my brother and I were less keen...

4:30 am. Door opens, stepping out my face feels

the cool damp air first. My breath draws in: I can see the smell of the air. Lilacs, green wet grass, unidentifiable flowers. Sounds enter my soul, my feet meeting the pavement, the sound of heart beating, the song of the birds. Warmth begins to embrace me from the inside out...

    Walking is my therapy,

and it is super affordable. I try to walk every day if I am not too sore from a workout. There are trails that lead down to the river, they are gorgeous, and I like to run those.

There are quite a few different trails around

where I live. I enjoy talking a nice 2 or 3 mile walk on one of them after work and often go longer on the weekends. There are unfortunately days where I can't get out there or have to cut it short due to knee or back pain.

One of my friends/support buddies here on EP

got me into walking probably about a month/6 weeks ago. The thought was that maybe it could help me with my stress and anxiety. Initially I was against it- I'm pretty much just a couch potato. I started off just going in short bursts. One lap around my block once a day, maybe...

    My Morning Walks

Early in the morning, before my breakfast or coffee, I love to go out for a walk. The sun has just risen and the streets are still empty, except for an occasional dog walker or car driving by. I love walking for a long time. Till my legs hurt. I love to walk fast and look as...
