    Fire in the fireplace

for the first time this fall. To bad that it's needed already, but at the same time I love sitting next it just staring at the flames and enjoying the direct heat.

    I'm Doing It Right Now

It's raining and cold out.  The house is nice and clean.  Dishes are done.  I took a nice long bath.  This fam is watching a movie.  I'm snuggled with a hot cup of cider, a good mystery novel, and a great fire going.  Such a great way to spend a winter evening.  I love...

    Great On Cold Nights

I bought this place 17 years ago (well, the bank still owns it, I guess) and one of the big plusses was the stone fireplace. It's great on cold nights to have a fire going, put on some tunes and knock back a couple of glasses of wine.

    Flickering Flames Tell a Story...

Home and hearth are inextricably bound from early on.  Fire has meant home and safety and security and comfort from the elements.  It has helped cook our meals, stave off our enemies, and warm our homes.  Its flickering flames are mesmerizing, intoxicating...gazing...

    It's A Must-have

Once the fire looked back at me.  The configuration of flames at the edge of the burning log precisely resembled a cute, grinning demon.  I get how normal this experience probably is, but it only happened that one time to me.  We sat and looked at each other...

Had a fire in the fireplace today, as it's been so cold out, the wind's been blowing, nighttime temps have been in the 20's, day time highs have been in the 40's and 50's. I get up every morning and bundle up and walk Kodiak before traffic gets bad. It's bitterly cold... but I...

    Zen Experience

Probably the closest to meditating I've ever gotten is zoning out in front of a fireplace. Unfortunately, now that I live in SOUTH Florida instead of NORTH Florida, I don't see too many fires in fireplaces anymore :(

    Very Romantic

I tend to be very romantic and there is nothing like the warm feel of a real wood fire.  I love the snapping and poping as well as the flickering of its light.  Just the thought alone can put me in a very romantic mood.

    There's Something About Flickering Flames...

...I find it difficult to clear my mind enough to meditate, but staring into a fire is something I can do for hours...   I read recently about driftwood fires...  apparently the salt soaks into the wood and when it burns the flames are the most beautiful colours...

Like A Good Friend Who Warms Me And Calms Me.

I also love sitting in the dark and staring at the flames.  Each fire is so unique and magical.  I can feel myself quiet down and open up at the same time.

Fireplaces. I love the warmth of them, the crackling and popping of the wood. The scent smells so good. It soothes and relaxes me. Especially during the holidays when its bitterly cold outside with a nice cup of eggnog or cocoa, Wrap my self in my snuggie. Ahhh. I can just sit...

    Except From Natural Gas Fireplaces

I know it may be unfair, but somehow those just seem fake. Like an imposter that tries to imitate something honest, something real.I hold integrity, honesty and authenticity above almost all other things. There is an honesty in handling wood that is consumed in a "real" fireplace...

Although, we don't have a fireplace. We just have one of those electric fires. But, when we went on holiday to France, the house had a huge stone fireplace that we eagerly used. Kept us very warm on those chilly nights. Watching the flames eagerly flickering on top of the wood.

    I Love Fireplaces

I hate these fake gas fireplaces they put in homes now. Nothing like the smell of wood burning, the sound of the crackle and the glow of the embers. Yes the ashes are a pain to clean up but I think its well worth it. I have many memories of fires in the fireplace and I just think...

The Smell, The Crackling, The Sound

Love a wood burning fireplace. I have a vision of making love on a fluffy rug in front a wood burning fireplace during a snow storm in a tiny cabin in the middle of no where.

No Home Is Complete Without Its Cozy, Crackling Fire.

A fireplace is primal comforts, remniscent of pre-historic times when man and family gathered around the fire at the end of day.  It symbolized warmth, protection, and enabled the family cook.  To this day, there is something mesmerizing about a fire...who needs tv when...

    Simply Mesmerizing...

I really miss having a fireplace.  I used to live in a house with a Red brick fireplace with an oversized mantle, and a mounted deer head with a huge rack of horns hanging above the mantle (I called the deer Fred, my dad shot him, I'm not a hunter. I used to...

    I Love Fireplaces

First of all, I adore fire, it shines and glows, creates a warming heat and hypnotises me. There is this cottage in Scotland I go to almost every year and it *used* to have an old open fireplace which I used to get going and sit by, I used to stuff it with logs and newspapers and...
