    Caesar, By Adrian Goldsworthy

A definitive and fascinating biography about one of the most historically charismatic Romans ever to have lived. Goldsworthy organizes Caius Julius Caesar's life in a way that would have impressed Caesar himself. It is a wonderfully readable book, placing Julius Caesar in...

    I Have Two Similar Books.

The Black Death by Philip Ziegler and The Last Days of Pompeii by Baron Edward Bulwer Lytton. Both are about disasters that took place in a different place and time. They are both great escapes. I bet those people thought it was the end.
