boy I really really dislike retail and I really need to get the hell out of it. but as it would seem at every job interview I go to it's always the same "sorry, all I see here is retail jobs, we are looking for someone with a bit more than that"

I can't escape it.

I wanted to be a cop but because of my deaf ear I can't Im disqualified automaticly.

so I went to school (online) to get something for private investigation but guess what my landlord lost the house to the bank and I had to move out and find new diggs - and when I did - the new land lord wanted more money and bi-weekly and because I needed a job the only job i could take was dun-dun-dah- retail and I had to take a pay cut for it so i can't even get out of this damn apartment.

and so with my income low due to rent and pay cuts i cant even go back to school so that I can get a better job.

Great.

thanks retail!

anyone know how I could get out of this mess?

Try looking at fields that value initiative and hard work, or creativity and motivation above experience and qualifications.

Fields like advertising, film production (crew), or set-building where you can learn as you go and if you have the right attitude your contributions will be recognized and you will rise quite quickly. If you like working with your hands, construction and shop-fitting are also skills that can be learned on-the-job. That kind of thing.

You'll have to start at the bottom in a low-paying position, but then you're still young so you can afford to be broke for a while. The important thing is to stress that you're keen to learn and do anything to succeed in the chosen field.

Search the web for career-guidance websites and learn as much as possible about a whole variety of fields before making a decision. Most-importantly, maintain a positive attitude no-matter what. If you believe in yourself, it will happen.

Best of luck. :)
