    I Had A Reason

My highschool happened to be possibly the most sheltered and "stick up their ***" people I have ever met. I was always a sort of inner rebel since I was a kid, and it hasn't died down any since then. I like disagreeing with somethnig because their not allowing me to be who I want...

I am a senior about to graduate in two weeks

from high school. Prom is also coming up, but I am not going. Why? Many reasons; the main reason is because of my boyfriend. I don't know if he is coming up for even my graduation party. We extended the deadline to RSVP only for him; everyone else has a date that is sooner...

I don't mind parties to be honest,

nor do I really mind loud places. But when it comes to being around a huge crowd for hours, I get a tad bit nervous/anxious and usually try to go somewhere more open and reserved. Plus, in my opinion, re general idea of prom just bores me. I never really cared for anyone in my...

No friends to go with as a group. I also didn't want to waste money on an experience I probably wouldn't have enjoyed.

    Well, having been homeschooled

for almost the entirety of my K-12 education, I never went to prom. As a kid, I felt "left out". However, as an adult I realized that there really wasn't a point. It's nice to have common experiences with your peers, but in the grand-theme of things, it's really not that...

It kinda sucked when I graduated years ago,

everyone had a prom date except for me. I felt jealous, angry, worthless. I just thought to myself, "If I don't have anyone, what's the point of me going? So I can be looked at as the 'wallflower'?" In the end, I'm really glad I didn't go! Everyone was just drunk and unconscious...

Okay, this is kind of a lie.

I went to 2 school dances, but I hated them. The first was the 5th grade graduation dance. All of my friends were asked out to dance. No boy asked me, and since this was during a time I was straight, this bothered me. So I pigged out on the fried food catering, where those...

Everyone was making a big deal of me not going

to prom in my senior year. They were saying how I would regret it. Never did and I don't now. The tickets were rather expensive and I didn't feel like going shopping for a dress and spending a ton of money to get my hair and makeup done for 1 night. I never went to any dances...

    I did not attend prom.

Between the years of 14 to 17 I was physically locked inside my house and not allowed to venture out, save for school which I was chaperoned to and from. It was my personal hell and probably sent me backwards in my personal development. I finally left when I was 17, it was...

I never went to prom because for some unknown reason, I have always had a strong fear of dancing in public. But for prom, I decided I was going to go anyway so I got dressed up, drove to the gymnasium, and then decided there was no way I could go inside. So I never went in the...

The Prom - a rite of passage missed . .

The year was 1976.  It was my senior year in high school.  It would be the final year I would have a chance to attend the prom, and I had not been asked.  It was my own fault of course.  I had built an impregnable defense shield around myself repelling boys like two...

If anyone asks me to go to prom with them, I'll just turn them down in Italian. I have better things to do with my time than go to prom and feel nervous about the large amount of people surrounding me. I have Asperger's, and I hate large groups of people.

I was constantly bullied and picked on. I was also very depressed during my teens. I never really had any fun teen years. The only fun I had were in my imagination. I fantasized about Casper and I having our very own prom with other weird characters in a different planet.
