    At a Hockey Game

I sang the Canadian National Anthem in front of 5600 people with no music. It was exhilirating and exhausting! Hearing my voice echo through the civic arena was totally awesome too. You'd never know that I used to be a shy little girl!

and I've gotten better. Here's an example. "D-you were great at the Brew Moon's open mic last night!" "I did?last night?what happened?" "you got up telling jokes and taped drumsticks to your shoes, then played congas and hit an electronic...

    No Fear

I remember all those times when I would be standing backstage with my fellow dancers waiting for our turn on stage, I would hear their nervousness, they were shaking, and some even said that they wanted to throw up from being so nervous. Not me. This is what I do best! The...

    Less Is More

Played this week to a handful of mostly disinterested people.  A group of chav lads on mobile phones directly in front of me, giggling at my heartfelt murmurings, occasional head shakings, bad notes.  I'd followed on a 14 year old girl doing Tracy Chapman-esque girly folk cover...

What's Better Than a Room Full of People Lookin At You?

Not much. Except maybe that fake cheese stuff you put on popcorn. But that's about it. But I like performing solo, I'm usually not scared, unless it's people I know... I find it easier to perform infront of a bunch of people I don't know than people I know. I've...

Never Look Directly At The Audience

Until recently, I performed in many pantomimes and dramas. When I started many years back, I was told never look into the audience or make eye contact with anyone in the audience.I found that to be a load of bull.. In one of my first pantomimes, I was on stage alone, about to go...

From Shy To Completely At Ease

When I was young I was bullied by my school mates, neighbors & relatives for more than 10 years. I was very shy. I wasn't taught any social skills whatsoever. I just did my best to endure the onslaught. When I was 13 I took chorus and signed up for PA announcing. In Chorus I was...

    More is less

Don't know how many, perhaps 800 once or twice, but to be honest after the first five or six the rest are just a blur.  It's the playing in front of one other person I have trouble with sometimes.  If they're a faceless mass I can phase them out of my mind.
