I Play Bass Guitar

Electric and Acoustic Bass 418 People

    I first started playing

when I was 14. I feel like a below average guitar player and a solid bass player, still far from amazing. Lately I've been playing a little more guitar, but I still say that bass is my primary and I'll always be a bassist at heart.

    Long Time

I've been playing bass for a long time. Since I was 14. I started with a crappy El Degas that I worked my paper route for six months to get. It was awful but I just loved it. I now have six basses including a vintage Ibanez Road Star that just plays great. My main bass is an...

Among the many instruments I can play,

Bass Guitar is one of them. I started picking it back up again because one of my friends recently got a Bass for his birthday (Spoiled!) so started showing him a few things. And of course, him learning bass he has to learn Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes lol Hoping he...

Is it hard to learn to play bass?

What exactly are tabs and where can I get them? If I start with a 4-string will it be hard to learn to play a 5 or 6 string later? In a little over two years my band is booked for a small tour starting in Rome,Ga and ending in mobile, Al

For all the bass players out there

who feel underestimated and mocked down: We're not just bass players, we're THE bass players!! We're the soul of the band, because they feel us. We order guitarists to do guitar solos and they follow our bass lines. We put the drums and guitars together, without us they...

    Makes Everything Feel Better

Before the bass I was still trying to learn piano, guitar, harmonica, and now the clarinet (along with virtual instruments via laptop production), but nothing felt better than my Ibanez (SR300 as I recall). I'll never have enough money to get better equipment than what I have...

    Only root and fifth, root

and fifth when I use it to add to my songs - I'm a reluctant bassist being happy whacking the 6 strings of a guitar ;-)Here is my (now) only bass guitar. I did have a lovely old Peter Cook custom Axis bass but I sold it to a collector who uses it for what it should be used for...

The Best Instrument. Just The Best.

Our band was in need of a bass player as our lead singer was tired of playing it to fill in. At the time I'd been listening to a lot of Nirvana and had fallen in love with Krist Novoselic's playing style, and had learnt a few of his basslines on my guitar. Around this same time...

    Playing Bass Is Awesome!

So I've been playing the Bass guitar for about a year now, and I love it! There's just something about the way it feels. I have no knowledge of music theory, so I mostly learn songs from tabs, maybe when I get into college I'll take some music courses. I tried guitar and it just...

I am pretty new to the bass.

I played guitar for 4 years before picking it up about 4 months ago. Despite it being my first bass I got a really nice one: an LTD Vintage 214. The body is swamp ash. It sounds amazing and the neck is thinner than a typical Fender P bass so it is easier for me to play.

    My Preferred Instrument

I first picked up a bass guitar at age 15, a couple of weeks before my 16th birthday. I was at the guitar shop with a friend, and I really liked the look of an Ibanez bass that they had in the store.  I rumbled the strings for a few minutes, then with the help of my friend I...
