    I wouldn't say I am all

that good at chess but I have enjoyed playing it since my grandfather taught me to play with I was 7 or 8. The highest achievement of my chess career was beating my brother when I was about 12 and he was 19, which given he never let me win as he is far too competitive, was...

I've been going to this chess club

for over 5 years now. My game has improved significantly since i started going. But in that one time there is this guy i can never beat. I've been getting closer to beating him but i always blunder close to the end game and it costs me the game.

Good Vs Evil In 64 Squares

I'm pretty good at it, i plan well in advance what moves i'm going to make and prefer speed chess to long drawn out games where the other person spends ages making a move, a reflection of my impatience and need for relatively quick gratification i feel. i've a themed Good versus...

This is a game I have known how to play my

entire life. Although I had a very unconventional upbringing, this is one of the few actually fond memories I still have from my childhood. Before my mother remarried, and before my youth was spoiled by pain.. my grandpa sat me down and taught me the basics. Since then, I have...

4th Place Ain't So Bad, Huh?

The three day chess torture is over and I emerge tied for 4th with 2 others in my section for NY state. Not bad. I didn't lose one game, but I think the draws hurt me a bit. I had 2 wins, 4 draws, 0 losses. 4/6 points. I'm happy. Good tournament overall. Now I prepare for...

....and am on a losing streak again!

I need to defend my pawns damn, not just attack! That's where I went wrong. I noticed that when I'm not focusing enough I lose too, that's also where I go wrong. Must be the pills I took, killed what was left of my braincells - bah! I'll take revenge soon enough

Taking The King Yes, I do like to play Chess,

even if I am not any really great shakes at it. I first learned what Chess was all about when my dad brought home a medieval chess set that looked like it had been designed in the 1300s with feudal style clothes of the age of King Arthur Pendragon, Lancelot of the Lake, Lady...

    After the Carlsen Anand epic,
