I have been playing the piano

since age 6. I have progressed to playing the organ as well. I give lessons to others on these musical instruments when I have time to do so.

I took no exams, only started learning last

october. Would have started earlier if I could have. Anyway I take a class every week with a good instructor and practice at the university music department, I think I'm doing well. Hope someday I'll be able to play some of the things I love.

    What is talent to you?

When I was young I would play rhythms on the piano I'd make up on my own. I'd put them all together and make my own songs. My aunt who is a great piano player decided to start teaching me scales and songs and I'd learn pretty quickly. But she lives in a different sate so I just...

I taught myself how to play by ear.

Christmas was always a tough holiday for my family - we were so poor that our presents were never anything special. I was always grateful to get anything though. That Christmas, when I was 11 years old, completely blew my mind. My parents had actually saved up enough money to...

The piano has been a part of me

and my life since I started remembering. It is like air that I breathe and a need to play every day. But now I have lost the full use of my left hand, immediate surgery cut it open to save some use. To play is painful, a struggle, mistake ridden, disheartening, but the need and...

    My Favorite Pieces

I had studied piano as a child (4-9), but afterwards was mostly self-taught. Didn't have many opportunities to play for 20 years. Now I bought a piano and am back in business. Was amazed how quickly the ability came back after I started practicing, and started learning new...

Playing the piano has been a creative process

for me. My father bought me a piano when I was 6. I absolutely loved the instrument. I did not learn to read notes, nor did I study any songs at all. All I did was play with it - it was more of a toy or just a thing to do for entertainment. I played something happy, then...
