    Late Bloomer...

I started clarinet later than most, in eighth grade, and I was primarily self-taught. I absolutely love it, though, and although I won't be majoring in it in college, I plan on playing in the band for all four years. I'm currently in the marching band and wind ensemble at my...

Been Playing For 8 Years Now

Started the clarinet in year 6 and have reached Grade 7 at 18. Haven't taken the exam yet, but I'm playing grade 7 pieces and, to e certain extent, grade 8. I'm in the orchestra and clarinet ensemble in my school. I'm also doing Music for A Level.

Been playing since the 6th grade

and am now a senior in high school, still playing. I love the instrument, I think it sounds really pretty! I am not a prodigy or anything but I work hard practicing for my Wind Ensemble class and for my own enjoyment. I decided not to major in music because I found another...

Getting ready to pay for my Buffet R13 Green line clarinet. I have spent most of this past year and this summer working long hours on top of going to college for music to pay for it. I love playing the clarinet. When I graduate in a few years with degrees in music ed and...

    It's a Secret

As a high schooler, it is not "cool" to play the clarinet. Well I guess that makes me not cool, then. I have played since fourth grade, have participated in 10+ honors bands, and am in marching band. And I have basically hated the clarinet the whole way through. The...

    The Holst!

Last night after our concert, somewhere between the stage and the bandroom, I managed to lose my score of Scherzo! I was so upset, I usually write all over my score and I keep all of them even from concerts years before. Does anyone else get attached to their own...

    VITO 3 Reso-tone

Ok I play clarinet as a back-up, but my prodominant instrument is Oboe, so someone has to help me here. Does anybody know anything about the VITO 3 Reso-Tone clarinet?? It still plays wonderfully but since I finally got my violin in to play second chair in that section, I'm...

When I was in elementary school, it was mandatory for kids to play an instrument. My first instrument was actually the viola. I sucked. For two years, I struggled away on that damned instrument until I discovered the clarinet. YAY! It was the first instrument (aside from the...

Does anybody here know of a clarinet equivalent

to a trumpet practice mute? I haven't played my clarinet in years, and would love to take it up again. But I live in an apartment and the walls and floor are paper thin. My downstairs neighbour is very aurally sensitive - he has complained about my washing machine being too loud...

    My Story

I play the clarinet. However, the clarinet is not my primary instrument. I started the piano at the age of seven, however after only a short time I found that I did not enjoy it anymore, and found practising a chore. After quitting the piano, I waited a couple of...

    It's My Life

I've been playing the clarinet since 5th grade, and 11 years later, it's become my life.  I am a Music Education major, and I want to dedicate my life to teaching others the joy I get out of making music.  It has become my passion.

Since first grade at secondary school,

I played Clarinet. I really love that instrument... It almost sounds like violin, which I completely adore. I play in my school Orchestra, and I will play in a quartet competition with my friends... I'm so nervous!

I Did Not Go to Band Camp

I so desperately wanted to play the saxophone but it was too costly when I was in 4th grade, especially since my parents weren't sure I'd stick with it.  So, I reluctantly chose the clarinet.  Twelve years later, I was still playing in college. I was first chair, first...

    In 4th grade I saw the 5th grade band's

rehearsal. It sounded great and I realized I wanted to join. My mom asked me what I wanted to play. My first choice was trombone and my mom said no. My second was trumpet and she said no it's too loud. Either clarinet or flute. I chose clarinet, and I was extremely great at it...
