    Misery -- the Beatles

I am proud, if not a little arrogant, to say that I taught myself how to play "Misery" by The Beatles in less than 1 minute last night. No, I am not exaggerating. I'm so awesome. :-D

    Blind Person Playing Piano

Before I went blind at 16 I loved the piano. It was easy and had a lovely sound. Then I went blind. I learned to play piano by ear. My mom would play and I would repeat. I can do many things I thought I couldn't after I went blind.

Playing Piano Is A Better Habit...and Cheaper...than Smoking

I have played a piano since I was about 6...We would go to my relatives houses and if they had a piano...that's where I would be for the duration of the visit...Unless they had cats or kittens..A piano has gotten me through my up and down life...When I am happy I can make songs...

    Lux Aeterna

There is something about playing this song that drives a deep emotional pull threw my soul. I don't know why, but it carries meaning with me and every time my fingers reach for the keys, I feel that pull yet again. It's a beautiful song and I've been learning it by ear for a...

    You Hold The Keys

When I started piano, I thought I'd never make it through, I thought it was so hard. And then one day I sat down, thinking that my dream was going to go down the drain of being a singer and musician. I started tapping on the keys the tune, 'Nobody knows the trouble I've seen...

One thing people don't understand is playing it

by ear is not mental. For me it is muscle. My fingers know where to go and I have to trust them so they feel right at certain notes.

    Playing By Ear

It's true, after hearing something, I can usually get to playing it on the piano pretty quickly without ever reading sheet music for it. As a matter of fact... I can't even read sheet music yet. But, I do it all the time, and my friends think it's great if I figure out how to...

I've learned every single evanescence song on piano. Even if it didn't involve the piano, I'd make it acoustic myself. I had finished My Immortal when I was only 6 years old. I've been playing since I was actually 3 years old. Not because my mom wanted me to, but because I've...

    20 Years

I've been playing piano by ear since I was 5 years old. My mother spent countless hours playing her organ while she was pregnant with me so I feel I had a head start.  I write music and lyrics and am currently expanding my repertoire with Beatles music. I have .midi files if...

It's funny how different ears have different

sensitivities. My partner has a really good ear for hearing timbre, i.e. she has really good voice recognition and can tell who is speaking straight away, and she can tell what instrument is playing really easily, etc. Other people just hear really WELL, as in they can hear even...
