I think this absolutely disgusting! Somebody should find this man, tie him up and starve him while people looked on. The spectators at the exhibit should be ashamed of themselves for even endorsing this cruelty. I can only hope that somehow he will be prosecuted for this!

i love animals i have a chihuahua in my lap right now and i truly hope this didnt happen however ...  i cannot for the life of me understand  why people in this country get so outraged by the cruelty of animals recently on u-tube there was a video of ana american soldier.  torturing and killing a puppy  this video was taken off !!  u-tube because the soldiers  family was in danger of being  lynched . but  yet on u-tube you can view clips of murders ,beheadings child abuse ,  the list goes on and  yet no one is trying  to  lynch the thug  that pistol whipped a 60 yr old lady inna convenience store robbery,  i just  dont understand   i  hope this dog really  didnt  starve to  death for  the  sake  of  art and to save anyone the trouble dont bother commenting and tell  me  to  go  lynch those thugs if  i  have  such a problem with  it !!!  im aware how cruel and nasty  the animal rights  folkes  can  be thats  why  i feel this  artist is doing  this  as a publicity stunt and  the dog is fine !!

I'm afraid to read it. truthfully.  Last time I read something cruel about an animal on the internet I had night mares for weeks...I couldn't get it out of my mind.  I love them so much. They are so much more human than we are. I just had my best friend and companion pass away 3 months ago.  He was a big dog and was 12...so that is pretty much the end of life for him.  But it was devistating still for me.  He developed cancer in his intestines, and there was truly nothing I could do.  He lost weight really fast.  About 30 lbs in a month and 1/2.  And I just watched him wither a way.  I went crazy trying do do what every I could for him.  But I had to finally put him down.  I took some time off work to spend with him and I took him hiking which is his most favorite thing.  And we took his ball, which is is second favorite thing.  I took him hiking every day.  It was the only time he looked happy and relaxed throughout his sickness.  The last day we went hiking and his legs couldn't carry him anymore, I saw blood now coming from his rear.  I knew it was time, so I took him in and had him put down. I couldn't make him happier and he was going to start going down hill from there and start suffering.  I wanted to take him to the point were life wasn't going to be enjoyable for him anymore and put him down before the real suffering began.  I think i got the timing right.  But there is a huge hole in my heart and soul where he use to be.  There is nothing artistic about a starving or sick animal.  If he wanted art he could have talked to any loving pet owner about the pain left behind when they miss their companions.  That might be art...

Or maybe we should tie that guy up and starve him...I wonder if he would think that was art?

I think that there is a question of "what exactly is starving?"  This could just be a skinny dog.  Just playing the devils advacate.

I cannot believe that this goes on in our world and nothing is done about it.  People go to jail for stealing but this useless piece of **** gets away with putting a defensless animal through this torture. I truly hope that Guillermo Vargas has no children, because any piece of **** that would be mentally sick enough to do this to an animal is no better than a child molester in my books.  Nominating that we start a group "For all in favour of tying up Guillermo Vargas and starving him to death say I"  Thank god for karma.

hey, I signed the petition..

But has anyone here read the whole story? and how does anyone know which story thats printed is true?

It doesnt justify or condone starving a dog at all, but makes an interesting point about how no one looking at the dog in the room made any attempt to rescue it.. and it [wiki summary] goes on to say that the dog may not have been mistreated at all - displayed only for a short time. (for those patriots out there, its not a statement about any culture in particular), its just a statement on human nature in general..

Fact or fiction, the point seems to be that ppl are so quick to place blame on others and inflict the strongest justice without knowing all of the Facts, and i regret signing that petition without having informed myself of the story first.. i believed the hype...

for the record, i am also an animal lover, and if he did harm the dog, whether before or after the exibit, then he does deserve to be tied up on display himself, but if the dog was in a dire enough state, the ppl who simply looked at it, hummed and moved on to the next display, deserve to be tied up with him...

whatever the case, we should remember that there is often more to a story than a one-sided tagline thats simply designed to evoke a one-sided response.. and i regret falling for it without being a witness to the truth...
