I Quit Smoking

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 3,871 People

I smoked for about 6 years.

Hated it most of the time but I live with a smoker so quitting has always been hard. But I quit cold turkey and today is day 33 that I've been quit!

Yes, I picked up this habit

that was horrible to my body. After a few years It became a love/hate relationship. I really didn't "like" smoking per say but I became a stress smoker...and I have a lot of stress in my life...it didn't agree with me....I kept headaches more so than before and woke myself up...

It's been 24 days since my last cigarette.

Each day is a struggle. Each day I end up crying in a ball. I think that I've overcame the addiction until something pushes my buttons. It is hard but I can't give up, I can't fail.

    I've been done with it

for a few months now. You've actually got to be an idiot if you can clearly see the effects smoking has on basically everything but do it anyway. I was stupid for even starting.

    I started vaping in February,

at 18 mg., slid to 24mg in March, when I was super stressed, but have cut down on nicotine every week. I had the last of my 3 mg yesterday and I'm noticing I'm even vaping less as I go...wow...so worth it!!!

    Day 1

Today is my first smoke free day in years. I decided that it is time to quit. The morning did not start off the greatest, because I awoke to the smell of cigarette smoke, which didn't help. My husband lit up in our bedroom right next to me. I reminded him that I was quiting and...

After many years feeding into the nasty habit

of smoking I have decided that 2014 was the last year that I would be classified as a smoker. I am also promising that I will not be the dreaded ex-smoker that preaches to smokers about the hazards of smoking or advising them on when they should quit, or about how they should...
