I Ran a Marathon

    If I Can, Anyone Can!

At age 37 I was a journeyman couch potato.  I had never, in my whole life even run around the block.  One day, I looked at a picture of myself and said "yuck".  A number of attempts to get fit at the gym failed.  I was a work-o-holic and gym hours...

Today I just ran a cross country race in

Montreal and it was pretty cold but it was fun. Other runners were good and they would say something like "keep it up" or "don't stop" if I get tired and that was good sportsmanship, I appreciate that.

My Marathon Training Was Perfect, And Then....

My training for my marathon went very well. After my 3rd 20 mile run my confidence was very high. Then, 2 weeks before the race I was at a birthday party with a bunch of toddlers and caught one of their bugs. The infection left me unable to run until about 3 days before the...

Well it was a 10k but it was emotionally

and physically strenuous and paradoxical rewarding. The best part was when I just finished the marathon. Everyone was cheering, clapping, some random lady put a silver medal around me WOW. But to be honest, the kinda thoughts that were going on through my head were insane, at...

It was a goal I set for myself,

the kind I was going to achieve come hell or high water. Took a lot of time, patience, and training, but finally managed it. Not entirely sure if I'll tackle another or stock with halves and 10k's. Definitely a great experience, though, and worth all the work and pain.

    Not Really Planned..

I wasn't really planning on running a marathon. In fact about 2 months before I did, I told someone that I would never consider doing it. I love to run, and have run EVERY day for at least 6 years now. I had been bumping up my Saturday runs. One weekend after a 21 mile run, I...

I started running after losing weight.

I was 330lbs (150 Kgs) at my heaviest and had slimmed to about 220 lbs (100 Kgs) before I started running. I came down from 330-220 by eating Healthy and Hitting the gym hard. I was doing about 80 percent cardio and 20 percent weights in the gym. Lots of time on the stair...

So every time I have seen a marathon on tv I

thought it was interesting to try so I entered my first marathon at my towns old home day. I have never even run before since grade school so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was one of 98 entrants! Well to make a long story short I brought my iced coffee to the run and jogged...
