    Everyone Should Read 1984

I never read this book in school, I never saw it around as a teen and didn't even think of it or have it suggested to me as an adult until i was about 26. I'm now 28, I listened to the unabridged audio last year and while it didn;t exaclty point out anything i didn't already know...

I Avoided It For A Long Time. Dumbest Move I Made This Year.

Its a great book, one of my favourites, well, i guess i dont really need to say that do I? I could really communicate with the protagonist, i feel like that alot, having to play happy and normal all the time or people will complain.Well, i could go into a book review, but i...

Its almost scary how many elements of this fictional book have seem to come true today.  1984 is the ultimate testament to the danger of complete and unquestioned government control.  (Wow i sound like an anarchist there)  Not to mention that the book itself is...

I previously heard about 1984 from my 9th grade

Journalism/Debate teacher. He said it was one of his favorite books ever and that it was a really graphic novel. The part about 1984 being graphic was as far from an understatement as one could get. I'm currently reading it right now in English, and boy does it like to throw a...

You all too late as usually ;) And I actually read it much BEFORE 1984 - I only put this title because I thought it was fun.

    Read In In One Night.

This was a one night read for me. I started it and simply couldn't put it down. Animal Farm is a good one to read after this.

    I Love This Book

1984 is one of my favorite books.  It's sort of tongue in cheek, because if we don't watch out, we could turn into this world.. I love the contradictions: Ministry of Love deals with torture, Ministry of Truth deals with propaganda, etc..  It's fascinating.  The...

    Did You Know...

Did you know that George Orwell actually admitted to taking his  idea for 1984 from a Russian novel?  He freely admitted it and later suggested that Aldus Huxley's Brave New World was likely derived from it as well.  So if you want to get the original check out WE...

    My Favorite Book

1984 was my favorite book in late high school and early college. This book led me to read Animal Farm and other works by George Orwell. I also liked the movie, I may, still, have a copy of the movie somewhere around the house. I was fascinated by the power and control...
