I Don't Like Hobbit People Who Like Hobbits And Think It's Respectable.

IT IS NOT AS RESPECTABLE AS THOUGHT BY YOU. But I don't mind, I'm not you, but I don't like pointy ears on short people or tall people, unless they're cat ears.

    And Struggled...

Sure, I read all the lord of the rings books. And yes, they were great books... But am I the only one who struggled to get through the first book? I found it to be too drawn out. And I would say if the movies hadn't of been coming out, I probably would not have carried on to...

I started reading the trilogy a few times before I made it right through. The first time I was about 12 and got so frightened that I stopped - it was the scene where sam and frodo are hiding from the black riders and the black rider gets off his horse and starts...

    The First Time Was 1970

As soon as I finished it I immediately started it again!  I think that I have read it about 5 or 6 times since then.  The movies were good but could never match the depth and and richness of Tolkien's books.

This Is One Of My Favourite Books

I'm an incredibly slow reader, and when I was reading it for the first time several years ago, it took me 8 or 9 months! Ironically, I was reading it in my native language then, but when I reread it in a foreign one two years ago, it took me just a couple of months...

A long long time ago I went to this tiny junior high school containing 100 grade 7 students and 100 grade 8 students. I was pretty fresh around the gills and didn't know anyone so I was thrilled when I made my first friend there. She was the student president and I was class...

These books, along with The Hobbit,

were my best friends growing up! I've probably read them at least 20 times to date, and the story never gets old. Tolkien was a genius, as well as a fabulous writer!

I read the Hobbit as a teenager

and I loved it. But it was years later when I read The Lord of the Rings books. When I heard they were making them into movies I wanted to read them before the movie came out.

    I Want More

I've read the trilogy, reread it and will read them again. I always find something new, something I've missed. And after I finish, I still want more of middle earth. I think this is one of the greatest works in the history of literature.  I can always throw the movie in the DVD...

I've Read The Lord Of The Rings Twice

I read it as a kid back in the early 1970's and then I read it again about 10 years ago, before the movie came out. I have to say, Peter Jackson did a fabulous job. I know he deviated from the books on several different occasions. But then that's what film directors do. It's...

Evil Comes From A Want To Control.

I am watching Lord of the Rings movie for a second time (read it once). I think the story really is about goals/ego/ambition in some way. The nature of evil. I think religion also help us deal with this. An attempt to create to some extent involves ego. Not necessarily in a...
